The guy got into improvisation, jazz and all that shit for a long time. Bless him, he loves that stuff etc.Fair enough. Check out some of the musicians he gets to play with. Sometimes I wonder if they wonder what they got themselves into.

Thurston has always been tops when it comes to giving other artists recognition and support they may not get otherwise, whether it be by playing gigs with them or name dropping them in interviews. To behave as if this is weird is a bit mind boggling. Judging by what most die hard Sonic Youth fans listen to outside of SY, it seems as if his voice has been heavily relied on. Sure, it's annoying sometimes when meeting someone who lists "Dinosaur, Sun Ra, Nirvana, + Sunburned Hand of the Man" as their favorites....but still, where would they be had these suggestions not been made? Also, considering not only how many times he's worked with various "underground" artists. but how many times he's worked with these artists as individuals, I'd say most approve of him. Thurston's cool. Let's not forget it.

There's a Documentary out about the whole "No Wave" movement I'm sure most people are aware of. Lydia Lunch basically calls the Strokes, and any other NYC bands post-2000 and bunch of pussies... I would agree
