At The Drive-In

One of the greatest bands EVER.

Discuss.

damn straight

HaydenAsche 03.26.2006 10:48 PM

In the video they say "This is for our friends in Coldplay" or something to that extent. My friends and I are going to start a ATDI cover band I think. I'm going to be the one dancing like a fool and shouting.

Watch this. Cedric tells the crowd what's up.

Everyneurotic 03.26.2006 11:06 PM

so, you are going to buy a clown wig and be cedric?

i have a couple of atdi videos i might share with you

HaydenAsche 03.26.2006 11:07 PM

I probably won't buy a wig. It won't be a cover band so much as a rip-off band that does like 25% covers.

Everyneurotic 03.26.2006 11:08 PM

good luck, man!!

krastian 03.26.2006 11:47 PM

They were one of my favorite bands my senior year. I later saw them with the Murder City Devils and Les Savy Fav....one of my favorite shows ever.

fishmonkey 03.27.2006 04:17 AM

i love Mars Volta

_slavo_ 03.27.2006 04:45 AM

I fucking hate Mars Volta. I think it's one of the worst bands currently operating.
However, 'Relationship of Command' was a superb LP. I play that a lot.

Inhuman 03.27.2006 12:19 PM

My teacher toured with ATDI a while back, and ran into cedric last year. He claimed he didn't like the stuff he's doing in the Mars Volta. My teacher said that they're some of the biggest nerds ever and cedric and omar continuously argued about whether Gandalf or Sarumon were stronger in Lord of the Rings haha.

Anyway, I used to really be into At the Drive in and The Mars Volta, but not so much anymore; however, I do really like Sparta

nomadicfollower 03.27.2006 05:06 PM

I agree with slavo 100%.
Relationship of command was their only good album - with the exception of various songs on different albums.
The Mars Volta suck.

krastian 03.27.2006 05:07 PM

Don't forget the Vaya EP....great!

AllHandsOnTheBigOne 03.27.2006 05:28 PM

Really good, energetic rock. Relationship of Command and the Vaya EP are good shit.

I really liked The Mars Volta's first EP, Tremulant. "Eunuch Provocateur" is fucking brilliant. However, I think their two LPs are too inconsistent.

Sparta is just...boring.

soapbars 03.27.2006 05:34 PM

i really like acrobatic tenement,

parts of relationship of command are great, but rolodex propaganda annoys the shit out of me,

i prefer mars volta

Rob Instigator 03.27.2006 05:43 PM

mars volta seems so damn bombastic and over-the-top emotive...

it bores

_slavo_ 03.31.2006 04:50 AM

mars volta is nothing but 65 minutes of drugged out psychedelic tweedling stretched out on a 70 minute disc...plus one or two songs to sum it up.

I'll rather play King Crimson than this shit.

screamingskull 03.31.2006 04:55 AM

mmmmmmmmmmmm, i loved at the drive in, but i havent really gotten into anything by the mars volta, i do like sparta though.
i guy i used to date made me a mix tape that had Glasshouse Tarrot by sparta on it and i listened to it over and over again.

strictlycommercial 03.31.2006 08:24 PM

Personally I don't ffind the Mars Volta offensively tweedly at all, I'll follow them throgh a lot mainly because it doesn't strike me as useless self indulgence. I like the bombast, it's somewhat invigorating. I like the endless noodling because it continues to sound good after 10 mins or more.
For a major label band they ain't doing bad.

al shabbray 04.01.2006 07:03 PM
