I didnt know that. That sucks. I never actually got the soundtrack. It's been on my "if-I-ever-see-it-used-for-cheap-I'll-grab-it" list for yeaaaaars.

mil_pl 09.04.2008 09:38 AM

Wylde Ratttz used to have a website back in like 2000, and it had about 10 or so mp3's that I downloaded back then. I still have the CD-R somewhere, though I don't know song titles, etc anymore. Anyone else remember, download? I dont know if the downloadable album had a name or cover art or anything?

mil_pl 09.04.2008 10:45 AM

this is the tracklist?

1. Hot Shot
2. She's Like Poison
3. Lsd
4. Judys' Blues
5. Smoke
6. Rosalyn
7. Hollow

(she's like poison and some, are really good)

noisereductions 09.04.2008 11:35 AM

I'm not positive. But I do remember "LSD" being one of them. So probably.

hiland 09.04.2008 12:33 PM

where the MP3's on their website the Mark Arm versions?

EMMAh 09.04.2008 12:34 PM

I was hoping this was actually about rats.

Never heard of this band.

WYLDE RATTTZ

Ron Asheton, Mike Watt
, Thurston Moore, Steve Shelley, Don Fleming
and Mark Arm got together in 1997 to record a couple Stooges songs and two originals. Jim Dunbar played the recordings for the producers of Velvet Goldmine who decided to use a couple of the songs in the movie. The Wylde Ratttz re-recorded TV Eye and My Unclean without vocals so that Ewan McGregor could do the vocals in the film

The Wylde Ratttz recorded the following tracks on this session:

I Wanna Be Your Dog / TV Eye / Little Doll / Fun House / Real Cool Time / Gimme Danger / Hollow Around You / My Unclean

Hollow Around You and My Unclean were written by Ron Asheton and Mark Arm. The rest of the songs are Stooges covers.

the VELVET GOLDMINE Soundtrack includes TV Eye.
My Unclean is in the film but not on the soundtrack.

Mark told me:
"They used instrumental versions of TV Eye and My Unclean in the movie so Ewan McGregor could add his exceptional vocal stylings. As far as I know, Gimme Danger was never completed, Ron refused to have anything to do with that song since it was from Raw Power and he was shut out of the songwriting process for that album."

Wylde Ratttz "Velvet Goldmine" line up:

Thurston Moore (Coachmen /Sonic Youth) - Guitar
Steve Shelley (Crucifucks / Sonic Youth) - Drums, Percussion
Mike Watt (Minutemen / Firehose) - Bass
Ron Asheton (Stooges) - Guitar
Mark Arm (Mudhoney) - Vocals
Sabir Mateen - Saxophone on Fun House
Don Fleming (Velvet Monkeys/Ball/Gumball) - Producer
Jim Dunbar - Manager
Bil Emmons - Recording Engineer
Ewan McGregor (Curt Wylde)

Second Session line up:

Ron Asheton- Guitar, Vocals, Piano, Tympani
Thurston Moore -
Guitar, Vocals, Electronic
Mike Watt - Bass, Beam, Spiel
Steve Shelley -
Drums, Percussion
Don Fleming -
Vocals, Guitar
Sean Ono Lennon -
Electronics, Guitar, Vocals
Jim Dunbar -
Percussion, Glass Sax, Vocals
Bil Emmons - Recording Engineer

Mark Told me also:
"LSD and Rosalyn are Pretty Things covers but I don't know who wrote or sang the other songs since I wasn't able to go to New York for second recording session ( Mudhoney was either on tour or in the studio, I don't remember exactly which). I wish that I could have though"

The Tracks from 2nd session:

Walk Of The Wild Ratttz / World Of Hurt / Pull On The Pipe/ Rosalyn / LSD (re-titled Take LSD), / She's like Poison / March Of The Wild Ratttz / Judy's Blues / Smoke/ Hot Shot / Nut / Hey I Wanna Know
.
You can listen to mp3 of Rosalyn, Hollow around You, Smoke, Hot Shot, LSD, Judy's Blues and She's like Poison by Click the Wylde Ratttz site.

Atlantic Records released (2003) the soundtrack to the Richard Linklater movie School Of Rock. It contains the original Wylde Ratttz version of the Stooges TV Eye.

So there's yr answer. The WR site is gone apparently, but those 7 songs are considered (an untitled?) unreleased album... you can see a small album cover at the bottom of my post.

mil_pl 09.04.2008 01:19 PM

yeah, thanks noise for this!

noisereductions 09.04.2008 01:34 PM

I'm awesome.

MellySingsDoom 09.04.2008 02:01 PM

"Velvet Goldmine" was the biggest gayfest ever (before "Mamma Mia" took that gold plated dildo prize off it), and really was much fun. "Iggy" as a flaming homosexual, though? No way!
