Massive Attack

Always loved them. Been on a MA binge lately, what a band. THE best British group in the last few decades IMO. I hate how they're being labelled as 'chill out' music despite making some of the greated pop music in recent years. Anyone else a fan

Love Massive Attack. Chill out isn't a compliment or right. They have pushed boundaries for years. Firm believer that Robert Del Naja is Bansky too, which would be fucking awesome.

Massive was my introduction to, Tricky, which was my introduction to, Nearly God. Chill out and pop doesn’t do MA justice......trip-hop might have been the “new” description for them back then?

Loved his Maxinquaye album as well. I only seen them once which was in the 02 in London last year, they weren't great tbh. Horrible venue and organisation. The music before and after was an odd choice, Cher's 'Do you Believe' was played before they went on stage, perfect segway to MA :p

Mezzanine was very good, Protection was very good as well, but in a totally different way.

I thought Heligoland was a great album as well.

I think I probably need to give Massive Attack another chance. "Trip-hop" certainly was one dumb name for their style and Portishead's as well - speaking of which, the Gibbons/Barrow band was usually considered the best of the bunch, but I could never get past their obsession for "James Bond themes music" (even though I love twangy guitar a la Duane Eddy!).

I was and am more much drawn to contemporaries and distant cousins of sorts like Moonshake and especially Laika. Now that's my shit right there. :)
