I have been listening to the self titled Royal Trux album a lot recently. THe one with Junkie Nurse on it. One of those records that I played a bit, filed away and am only really realising how great it is recently. Also, the first John Spencer Blues Explosion record has been inspiring similar feelings.

I'm playing the first s/t Royal Trux. Apparently there are two s/t ones. You're talking about the one with the bones on the cover, I think--and which I've ordered through my friendly local independent music store, along with Cats and Dogs. Great stuff that, like you said, is hard to appreciate on first listen but definitely grows on you.

Sonic Protest 2006 compilation. Basically a compilation of stuff by artists that played at this years Sonic Protest festival. Stuff from The Skaters, Volcano the Bear, Don Caballero, Viki, Prurient, Tomutonttu, Panicsville, Zaimph, Hair Police, Magic is Kuntmaster and so on.

I was really surpised and delighted by the Panicsville and Magic is Kuntmaster stuff. 2 artists I hadn't heard before but want to investiagte further for sure.
