I was surprised there was no Kendrick on that list.

But he’s goddamn CORRECT to include “Chanel.” That song is goddamn amazing. So is “Biking.” So is “Slide.” So is “Lens.” So is every little nugget Frank Ocean drops.

Severian 01.01.2018 09:30 AM

Oh wait, this is a new one?

I kinda thought you were done with these.

Biking is my favorite out of these! And he actually listed Humble.

This might be the last one.

Unless NR comes back or something.

Dude, far as I know NR listened to neither DAMN. nor 4:44, not to mention Big Fish Theory or 4eva is a Mighty Long Time.

I think he ”checked out” a couple of DAMN. tracks and thought it was “Ok.” So obviously he just plain doesn’t like Kendrick.

He spent 2017 listening to Weezer and Bush...

Although he did love Kendrick at one point.. I'm sure he would've loved 4:44 and DAMN if he was still invested in hip-hop. BROCKHAMPTON would've been right up his alley too, I think.. since they have a bit of that old rap group feeling.

I think he likes good kid and Section.80, but he hasn’t been moved by TPAB, untitled I mastered. or DAMN., so a I really think it’s kind of a wash. And honestly if you don’t like TPAB or DAMN., then... kinda don’t like Kendrick.

Kinda like those crazy folks (not that NR’s crazy, he’s just been doing his own thing f, which is fine) who “like” Kanye but don’t like anything after Graduation. It’s like... that’s not liking a majority of what has made Kanye Kanye. Those people baffle me.

Like fucking Joe Budden. God I hate that guy.

“Oh hey I like Bob Dylan, but only up until Highway 61” or “yeah I love the Beatles, as long as it’s he REAL Beatles and not that Rubber Soul/Revolver/Sgt. Pepper/White Album/Abbey Road nonsense!”

Whatever.

This has been such a shit year.

Severian 01.02.2018 11:34 AM

Vince Staples and big KRIT did well this year. I think Vince is going to be more of a low-key phenom than the Kendricks of the world, but I still think he’s going to be one of the greats from this era.

I paid no attention to the Freddie Gibbs album from this year. :( Struggling with the rape thing I guess, even though I know he beat the charges.

Brockhampton I still haven’t really acclimated to. They’re fun but I can only listen to a couple of tracks before wanting more... variety.

That's the same guy who called Frank's Nostalgia/Ultra mixtape from 2011 his best release. I think he's just bitter because he was a one hit wonder who resorted to releasing a series of boring emo rap mixtapes, ultimately failed his rap career and became a TV broadcaster. Up until last year he was mainly known for being the guy who beefed with Method Man, Lil B and Drake. Drake's a bitch, but what kind of sick person interrupts Meth? Such a down to earth, chill guy, who always minds his business.

Joe Budden?

Man I just saw him on that Eminem “cypher” a couple of years ago and was like, who’s this boring shithead? Then I saw his mixtapes pop up, and then he was on Everyday Struggle saying stupid shit about how dumb young people are.

He himself is only, like, my age, and to hear him talk, doesn’t know that much about hip-hop. He once said that Graduation was too long because it “had like 30 tracks” and he’d just say nonsense like that and yell about it with that fat-faced “young” dude and the dumbass girl who professionally *say between two dumb assholes.*

Whatever. I like that he hates Drake, but I’d rather see more BIG names come out against Drake. Like Kendrick did in that Rolling Stone interview, just throwing shaaaaade like a pimp. Haha.

evollove 01.02.2018 07:14 PM

What did Kendrick say? I don't follow these things.

Just some snarky shit. Like...

“What’s your favorite Drake song?”

*laughs* “Ah man. That’s funny. What’s my favorite — *laughs* shit, all of them! You know?” *laughs*

Etc.

I’m paraphrasing here. He also commented on how shitty pop music differs from real earworms, and about ghost writers, and just kind of snickered and giggled his way through the whole thing. It was cool.

Hey Louder,
Did you know that “Yeezus” is available on vinyl (AND CASSETTE?!?!) for a limited time at Urban Outfitters? It was part of some holiday deal or some shit. Not *truly* official, as in the packaging was not designed by Kanye, but official enough to not be a bootleg. I’m thinking of checking out my nearest bullshit Outfitters to see if they still have any.

evollove 01.04.2018 12:15 PM

Donald Trump to attend Kendrick Lamar gig at College Football Playoff

I saw that. What a weird event for a big rapper to play. Not sure if this is news or not. Big whoop, they’re going to be in the same place at the same time. They will not speak, and Trump will say Kendrick’s overrated.

Ohh that's cool man. Though the packaging not being a Kanye design is a bit of a bummer.
