Just spent a marathon weak watching every episode, the pilot, and the movie. Amazing stuff.

Ignatius J.Reilly 07.02.2006 08:37 AM

twin peaks is amazing.as good as tv gets.

shentov 07.02.2006 10:01 AM

this series were killer influence for me in my childhood

Dan 07.02.2006 10:06 AM

I always thought you knew it was me!

I'm just going through season one again. Fire Walk With Me is in a couple ways my favorite of Lynch's, but I'm still holding out for a better dvd.

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 10:07 AM

Oh man it's just amazing and addicting. It didn't screw with me so much as it just captivated me.

My favorite of Lynch's is Mulholland Drive, because it is just a masterpiece of everything he does well. But it's honestly hard to pick a favorite after that point..

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 10:26 AM

Jeffries: Well now, I'm not gonna talk about Judy. In fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it.
Cooper: Gordon?
Gordon: I KNOW, COOP!
Jeffries: Who do you think this is there?
Albert: Suffered some bumps on the old noggin, hey, Phil?
Gordon: WHAT THE HELL DID HE SAY THERE, ALBERT? THAT'S SPECIAL AGENT DALE COOPER! FOR GOD'S SAKES, JEFFRIES, WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? YOU'VE BEEN GONE DAMN NEAR TWO YEARS!
Jeffries: The stories that I wanna tell you about...

I can never understand what the fuck is going on when I watch Twin Peaks. Interesting though, which is a huge contrast to most of TV these days.

Lynch brews up some television with Twin Peaks by adding a wonderful mix of ingredients. The addictive quality of the episodes goes beyond that of the traditional cliffhanger formula & into psychological territory. Sorta like the cigarette companies putting additives in their product to make an already addictive product even more addictive.

afterthefact 07.02.2006 01:17 PM

You know, it's weird, I've seen most stuff David Lynch has done, including his shorts on his website (which are GREAT by the way), but I have never seen Twin Peaks. I think it was because when I was growing up, I never watched it, thinking it was just some cop show in the same group as In The Heat Of The Night, or any other show of the like that you can now only view at your elderly neighbor's house or on the tv in the tire shop's waiting room. Of course, now I know I was wrong, but only too late, because it's not on air anymore. My question: if I really love all of Lynch's other stuff, would it be worth my money to go buy it on a whim without ever having seen it before?

LifeDistortion 07.02.2006 01:50 PM

I heard the first season is brilliant but the second season made no sense because they totally abandoned the storylines they set up in the first season.

IntoTheGroovey 07.02.2006 02:17 PM

It's hands down the greatest TV show of all time (along with Seinfeld of course). The first season is brilliant and hooks you immediately but the first half of the second season is just as good. By about episode 14 or so it kind of loses it's way but is still entertaining, and gets really good again around the end.

afterthefact 07.02.2006 04:23 PM

What would have been cool is if Mulholland Drive was a series like originally planned...

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 04:34 PM

I love the second half of season two simply for windham earle..

umjammer atomsk 07.02.2006 04:38 PM

I've only seen Fire Walk With Me so far. But I guess it kinda ruined the mystery for me, didn't it? I really want to see the series but I'm going to have to order it off of amazon or something.

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 04:51 PM

Hahah, well, it may have ruined one of the mysteries, but that mystery itself is pretty obvious near the end of season one, so eh...

johnnywinternoshow 07.02.2006 06:19 PM

I didn't watch it when it was on tv originally but picked up the dvd of series 1 last year and loved it. Especially the cliffhanger at the end, I almost bought a video of series 2 for £30 on ebay to see what happens next. I love how, to me anyway, the soundtrack and some of the acting makes it seem a lot like some of those stereotypical american soaps and i like it for it's cheesiness but then it;s written so well it just hooks you

Anyone interested in seeing the original pilot for mulholland drive? you can here

LifeDistortion 07.02.2006 06:50 PM

I don't think any David Lynch series would work on any of the major networks on television. Why he hasn't done a project on HBO or Showtime though is odd. He'd be perfect for something on one of those networks, and HBO really needs a great series again, because they've been getting rid of all of thier good ones in the past few years.

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 07:07 PM

Actually..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Room

was on HBO..

Daycare Nation 07.02.2006 08:31 PM

I have a question I've always wondered about. If the good Dale is in the Lodge and he can't leave, is he in the White Lodge or the Black Lodge, or are they the same?

Whenever I see Laura being redeemed with Dale and the angel in the Lodge, I always wonder how that could be, since I thought the good Dale was trapped in the Black Lodge and evil Dale was running free on earth?

h8kurdt 07.03.2006 10:15 AM

It's all down to opinion but I think it's the normal Dale on Earth on he's been possesed by Bob.

LifeDistortion 07.03.2006 12:55 PM

Hotel sounds pretty cool, guess its never been put out on DVD? And apparently Lynch also was involved in another series call "On The Air" which got canned after three episodes. I still say Lynch should do another series. Hope he's given another oppurtunity at some point, but only if its going to be on HBO or Showtime.

h8kurdt 07.03.2006 12:58 PM

Another series of twin peaks? Well he says two different answers when asked if he'll do another seires "no it's as dead as a door nail" and "I waiting for Kyle MacLachalan to get older"

Rememeber Laura says to Cooper in the waiting room "I'll see you in 25 years"...

This could be really great if he can get the key original cast.

I tell you, time is vicious to women, but cocaine doesn't help.

Cocaine is mad fun, don't let fascist tabloids tell you otherwise.

-It's awesome and hilarious that Tesla is linking to probably the most right wing newspaper in the UK (aka the land of rightwing rags) to make his point.

Anywho, I don't know how these guys are going to bridge the cliff-hanger ending of season 2 with ANYTHING that spans 25 years of "in the meantime" and keep it in any way plausible within the already established story line... but here's hoping!!!

yes maybe if it's occasional but i come from the land of cocaine and things don't always go as promised.

maybe it's the drinking that kills you in the end, but who the fuck snorts coke without a case of scotch?

and then there's of course numb dick and the just wanting more coke.

then the next day the teeth and muscle pain and the fucking depression.

then years later there is talk of cocaine and your nose does this tickle thing. which is how you can tell: mention coke and see who rubs their nose in the next 30 seconds. worse is when you talk about coke to a cokehead and they immediately want to shit.

too pavlovian. handle carefully.

anyway if this was about lara flynn boyle please no.
