Names for sonic fans & other.

Now, lets think of a decent name for a Sonic Youth fan. Can be anything.. Suggestions???

Also lets name the 'technique' of thurston putting a drumstick under the strings of a guitar.

Go on.

That's a bit of a toughy. I've always considered Mudhoney (given their early existence, longevity and ability to veer off into country music and other indigenous styles) to be the grunge equivalent of the Grateful Dead; so I came up with the "deadhead"-like term "mudbud" a few years back--never caught on. As for Sonic Youth fans....

As for the drumstick technique, How about "levering"? "Fulcrumming"? "Stickcrumming"?!! "Tentpoling"?!!!!

king_buzzo 05.07.2007 01:44 PM

I do not know... Tent Polling is quite funny

"Skimming the Tracks"

SynthethicalY 05.07.2007 01:50 PM

When they go into improvisation, they should call it sonic, like the dead did with space or something along those lines.

Maggots. Damn, it's already taken.

drrrtyboots 05.07.2007 02:43 PM

SYRFox 05.07.2007 02:51 PM

atsonicpark 05.08.2007 02:07 AM

"person who thinks he's reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally smart and intellectualizes on the beauty of sonic youth going into boring noise improvisations for hours in the the middle of a song while beating off to gregory corso's poetry"

or how about "feedback skronkhedz".

as for thurston's drum stick thing, let's call it "idiot fucking up his cheap guitar "

king_buzzo 05.08.2007 03:51 AM

Are you really a fan? It sounds like you've completely missed the point.

I guess it's like I told a fellow a few years back: There are two kinds of fans in relation to Sonic Youth--Sonic Youth fans, and fans of Daydream Nation, Goo and Dirty. There are very few similarities between the two camps, from temperament to I.Q. to politics to manners of appearance.

Oooh, check out the superfan.

How did I miss the point? This thread is a joke, I joked, and you're a joke.

i thought that then stick under the strings already had a name. something like third bridge method, if i'm not mistaken. check the wikipedia on thurston and lee and there's mention of it.

king_buzzo 05.08.2007 11:12 AM

Hmm didnt see anything on there.

Everyneurotic 05.08.2007 11:29 AM

hahahaha, yeah, let's degrade sonic youth and their fans. whoooooo!!

but the part where that guy compares mudhoney to the grateful dead totally redeems this thread. made me laugh a lot.

king_buzzo 05.08.2007 11:30 AM
