I say...UNWOUND. Sonic Youth is probably always going to be my favorite band but Unwound makes me feel something totally different and exciting every time i listen to them.

Hey Thrasher, any chance you know how to play any of their songs? I'm horrible at transcribing and have been trying to teach myself broken e-strings and october all over for the longest time.

Easily my favorite album of all time. All songs on that album are fucking awesome, i plan on doing some sort of Below the Salt cover sooner than later.

I don't like the idea of a "greatest band in the world". There's so many bands that are just uncomparable on so many levels. I do think that SY will be one of my all-time favorite bands forever, however along with many others

I agree with some of this, but when someone asks me, "Whats yr favourite band?," the response is immediate, Sonic Youth, Always and forever. Greatest band in the solar system and beyond.

When I saw them play live this past year they closed out the main set with that song. One of my best concert moments ever.

I voted no just because I don't think there is a BEST band ever... I love tons of bands that all are so different from each other, you can't really compare and say which is better...

Edit:Godspeed You! Black Emperor is up there though...

And that's why I'm not the biggest fan of "top 10 albums of the year". I'd have to listen to many more albums to even generate just "top 10 (genre) albums of the year" and plus I can't compare rap to ambient. I usually just list a few that I enjoy.

Niiicee, I love them, and my teacher is friends with all the members! I can't decide whether I like Godspeed, Silver Mt.Zion, or Triple Burner more, they're all excellent

sonic youth is my al time favorite band.
The "greatest" band ever is definitely a subjective opinion, and for that I vote SONIC YOUTH

they are tied with the beatles in my opinion though.
