Worst movies you have ever seen

Carnage: The Legend of Quiltface (entitled just Carnage Road in the credits though!) This movie was made on a video camera and I swear edited with windows movie maker.

Manos: Hands of Fate (picture is of Torgo)

Hellgate: The House that Screamed 2 (seriously, seriously retarded) One of the longest opening credit scenes ever, plus it seems to me that there is a lot of recycled material mostlikely from the House that Screamed

Dishonorable Mentions:
The Horse Whisperer
Attack of the Killer Leaches
The Screaming Skull
Silent Night, Deadly Night
Witchhouse 3
Camp Blood 2
The Jackhammer Massacre
And a bunch of horrible softcores, but I don't think those count do they?

Plan 9 From Outer Space- considered the worst movie ever made wasn't that bad in my opinion. I think Ed Wood had talent and vision to make campy b-movies in the 50s. Atleast they are watchable. (Quiltface and the House That Screamed 2 are two of the most unwatchable movies I've ever endured.)

I know a lot of movies are just atrociously made / acted / whatever, but those don't bother me as much as movies that a lot of people actually seem to like, even though they have nothing to offer. Thirteen was god-awful. Forrest Gump is retarded (pun intended). My "friends" dragged me to see The Last Kiss a few months ago, and that was terrible, as expected. But pretty much anything that involves that one guy is always going to be terrible. Those same friends of mine also speak very highly of Donnie Darko and Amelie, and I'm not exactly fond of either movie. Neither movie is badly made. Amelie is actually well-made, but I didn't feel any differently during or after the movie, I just really wanted it to be over, and when it was, I was left wondering what all the fuss was about. It's a very, I don't know, cute sort of movie, and I don't work well with cute unless it's in the form of Milo & Otis. I know it's probably not right to lump any of these movies in with Manos: Hands of Fate, but overrated movies bother me much more than any other sort of movie.

But the worst movie I've ever seen has probably been The United States of Leland. Some girl in my art class recommended it, and it was just stupid. Painfully so. I really can't get over how stupid it was.

candymoan 12.11.2006 03:26 AM

last weekend, i was travelling.. i had 5 hours to kill, and the coach company rents DVDs with a portable player.. i wanted something easy, so i chose "war of the worlds" as h.g. wells is one of my childhood heroes..
i'd forgotten two things though...
1- i fucking hate tom cruise and everything he represents
2- i fucking hate speilberg and everything he stands for

the flick was shit..
i can understand the need to make movies that are intended for bubblegum consumption.. i even appreciate the superficial plots and characters from time to time.. i have a sweet tooth for b-movies, and frequently enjoy the budget shortcomings and concentrate on the allegory at hand..

i've seen a lot of bad movies, but the latest one was "war of the worlds..."

noisemachine 12.11.2006 03:33 AM

I was at a friends house a few weeks ago and some people wanted to watch this, so I was sorta stuck watching it. But it honestly is the worst movie I have ever seen. And yeah, ive seen Manos and Plan 9 and a bunch of those cheap horror films. And this one easily takes it for the worst movie ever.

Tokolosh 12.11.2006 03:38 AM

Hostel is the worst movie I've seen this year. I won't even bother to mention ones from the past.

racehorse 12.11.2006 04:51 AM

i thought 28 Days Later was atrocious.
and there are many cheesey "gore" zombie flicks that go without saying, however the worst i've seen was a new zealand film (using the term lightly) called "death warmed up". christ it was shocking, not because of the low budget effects etc, that i can deal with. but the plot, the acting and most of all the accents were so frustratingly bad. yes, the accents were the icing on the cake,
new zealand = shit apart from birchville cat motel and the dead sea.

screamingskull 12.11.2006 05:23 AM

Seconded.

Also I say

-corn (It was about corn that sheep ate that made them go crazy. They honestly used sock puppets (I think.) for one of the "gore" scenes)
-Pinata Island (it had that guy who played Buffys Xander in it, so I thought it was promising... but no. It was about possessed pinatas. How gay. They played it on the fucking AMC one night and tried to call it horror)
aaaand there's one other movie too but I forgot what it was

I didn't even bother to see that one because I hated Saw 2 so much.

ALIEN ANAL 12.11.2006 11:12 AM

Catwomen, Alone in the dark (anything made by Uwe Boll)

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 12.11.2006 12:06 PM

Hostel was pretty awful.

Anarchist's Cookbook is another stinker, although it did have a few decently funny scenes.

explain?

Savage Clone 12.11.2006 12:44 PM

Darkest Knight - unbearably bad fantasy movie; too cheesy even considering the inherent cheesiness of fantasy movies!

Super 8 1/2 - already discussed in Porky's thread, but fuckin' a was this bad. I couldn't get through it.

What Dreams May Come - OH MY GOD THE SAP DRIPS FROM EVERY PORE!!!

More as they come to me. I love "bad movies," so I am including only movies that are bad in a non-entertaining and thoroughly infuriating way.

static-harmony 12.11.2006 12:44 PM

Any star wars.

i'm looking online for more accurate sources than my sloppy morning prose. i'll post you something.

No, it basically has the same plot as Texas Chainsaw Massacre- he doesn't die, which sets it up for a number 2.

jon boy 12.11.2006 02:15 PM

wolf was pretty terrible and american pie 1 & 2 were just atrocious. i walked out of the cinema at that one.

You're kidding me right? He was sublime in another Kubrick film 3 years earlier, and Spartacus wasn't that bad either. I agree with Kidman having a very bad nose job, but Streep and Harris made up for it.

Tokolosh 12.11.2006 02:48 PM

Well, your're entitled to your own opinion... I've seen worse, if you want to talk about Julianne Moore^.

Daddylikes 12.11.2006 02:52 PM

Most people here have shit taste.

War of the Worlds rocked.

Hostel rocked.

Leprechaun 4 in space is pretty bad...as is Leprechaun in the Hood with Ice T.

Troll and Troll 2 are pretty fucking bad too.

But...

The WORST MOVIE ever! Has got to be....

THE SHAFT! (not to be confused with "Shaft")

THE SHAFT is a horror movie about a possessed elevator...and it is damn rad!

of course! opinions are like assholes, etc.

oh! she did the refry of psycho? never have i seen it, never will it. how can you improve upon the original? that's just so fucking wrong.

anyway yes sorry i hated the hours i hated spartacus so fucking SAPPY!
there are beautiful moments/shots no doubt but i detested it as a whole, the whole fucking score gave me rashes as well--

oh i finally found something: http://pages.prodigy.com/kubrick/kubsp.htm

Kubrick and Douglas clashed, however. Kubrick felt he didn't have enough creative input especially where the script was concerned, making him feel like a mere hired hand, and leading him to later buy his way out of his 3 picture contract with Kirk Douglas's production company and in later years to virtually disown the film.

disown! i would too...

SynthethicalY 12.11.2006 02:52 PM

The remake of pshycho sucked sweaty balls.

Back in 1983, Dutch Writer/Director Dick Mass released the Horror movie, DE LIFT aka THE LIFT.

Apparently, Dick Maas thought his flick was a turd as well. Nearly 20 years later a much older and presumably wiser Dick decided to remake and release his own film (now made in France). Only this time, he called it DOWN.

DOWN became THE SHAFT in the U.S.

He made a very very big mistake, 'cause The LIFT had already become a cult movie.

I haven't seen it either. I keep well away from most remakes, especially ones ripped from the master of suspense.

Have you noticed how many remakes hollywood have come up with in the last few years?
