i read that when truman was president some railroad workers went on strike, throwing the country a curve ball and truman tried to get the workers drafted so he could legally force them back into work.

If they reinstate the draft they better stop letting gays in the army so I can pull an Iggy Pop.

I'd have to make a plan to make myself NOT appear gay. It's fairly easy to appear gay.

I can't see why anyone in any profession would want to be lumbered with a load of staff who don't want to be there, or the logic in thinking that it might be a good idea.

War is not for everyone, and I don't think our goverment should make anyone who doesn't willingly volunteer go to another country and be made to kill another human being, Vietnam did that, and look how many people came back emotionally, phyiscally, and mentally damaged. I have every respect for any soilder who willingly enlists in the armed forces, but to make ones who simply don't have the inner strength within them to deal with it, that's a hell of a lot to ask of.

I would start with drafting those rich spoiled OC kids hanging at the block in orange and at hot topic.

I think only gay men should serve in the Army. Based on my interactions, they're smarter and tougher than most other American males, and often very conscientious. I'd rather trust the defence of my country to an Army of gay men than one full of redneck hillbillies.

If they bring back the draft I'll be looking for a place in Canada.

i support the idea. let's spread the death toll across racial and class lines. why is it mostly poor brown people and rural whites who end up getting fucked in the ass for the wars that rich people launch? equal opportunity death would indeed be a way to stop the congressional fatcats from sending kids to die on a whim.

Forced equality isn't the same as equal opportunity. Everyone has the same opportunity to volunteer or not.

Somehow I doubt that it will work out like that. All it really means is that those politicians will be guaranteed to have the numbers they need to go to war with whomever they wish.

Maybe they should raise the pay of soldiers instead.

the thing is, where i live, lots of poor brown people are seduced into joining the armed forces with frisbies, brainwashing slogans, and promises of college money. of course many come back too fucked up to function. but because we're talking about poor brown kids with no political muscle, nobody gives a shit-- kinda like the mexican who cleans your pool. anyway, i'm really not for the draft nor for the war-- but as long as people keep stirring the shit, and thinking about things instead of being drones, i'm happy.
