Ity takes like, twenty minutes for videos to open (aside from Youtube) on m shitty computer... is that common?

is your quicktime up to date and configured so that it recognizes that you have broadband? all of the vids on this site are fast-start quicktimes, so there shouldn't be more than a minute of lag. they all start in under 20 seconds for me.

To answer yr question: probably not. Bummer... we're getting a new computer soon, I guess I can wait another little while.

I've got broadband ADSL and a good computer. Peace attack is most definitely not streaming video. I've been waiting more than 10min and it's slooowww.

in the quicktime control panel/system preference pane, you should all have the following options set:

in the "Streaming" tab, "Enable Instant On" should be toggled on.
your streaming speed should be correctly set in that tab as well.

in the "advanced" tab, "transport setup" should be set to automatic

in the "browser" tab, "play movies automatically" and "save movies in disc cache" should both be toggled on.

you should be running some 7.x version of quicktime.

check all of that if you have any problems.

if anyone who has their quicktime configured as i've described is noticing lag in any of the videos, let me know and i'll re-encode them.

That Peace Attack video isn't working. It streams a third of the way and stops. I downloaded it and noticed that it's an mpeg 4 format, 39.8mb for 06'09min. Probably filmed on an HD camera and scaled down to 400x270.
I also noticed that you probably use Finalcut standard codecs and not sorenson squeeze. Why the mpeg 4 and not .mov like the rest? I've checked the jams and they stream well. I find the size dazzling, 256x202??? If I scale that to a standard size, I get 300x237 and not 240...

i don't use the apple codec. it sucks. i use 3ivx.

I have to view it through Mozilla or Netscape, the other one just pops up a box and weird things start crawling on the page.

that means that your browser's mime settings are wrong and that it doesn't know it's supposed to open .mov files with the quicktime plugin.

no. i had that. 12 bucks was for 3 mini DV tapes. i even filmed the whole thing myself while hopping around in it--except for the one panning shot, which i had my girlfriend help me with.

Ha! That must have been tiring by the look of your body language in certain parts. The shots were probably rearranged to disguise the pain.

Like I said. I've made lower. I've made films with such low budgets that I couldn't afford the tape, so the film is nothing. That's how low budget I am. Sellout.

But seriously... I love the video, and never knew that little fact before now. That's awesome, and like Tokolosh said, must have been crazy tiring.

That's my speciality mister, and it's called no-budget.

i hopped around like that for four hours straight. then i had to shoot 3 days worth of ATP starting the following day. my legs were so sore i could hardly stand, but there i was--standing until 2 AM... filming... with very angry legs.

jams run free vid is nice. not so keen on the cbgb vids. they depress me for some reason.

Rapture and Reena are great, but Reena stops streaming a third of the way too.

Where was it filmed?

around camber sands. i had that week in between Director's Cut ATPs to hang out in the chalet and make trouble, so i dressed up as a frog and made a sonic youth video on my last day of downtime before the second weekend of the fest.
