Are you very into SY right now?
I'm not really at all....But Rather Ripped kicks some fucking ass.
If you are not into SY that much, why do you post here? Is it because you feel that you belong to a cool little indie Internet clique? Or what? Let me know. Love, Daycare Nation |
I'm listening to Sister right now. I'm not very into SY. 80s SY kicks ass, though.
|
Not into them as much as I was when I first started buying all their albums, which was a few years ago. But still into them for sure. Im sure I always will be to some extent.
|
I don't listen to them that much. For my sins, I happen to think they are one of the most crucial bands of contemporary rock and/ or roll, especially given the commercial clout they hold. Hipster schmipster though, I agree entirely with swa(y).
|
As I do agree w/ the fact that 80's SY, & early 90's SY was more groundbreaking than anything they've done recently, I tend to listen to the later albums more. Now call me noob, or whatever you want, but you still can't argue w/ the fact that given all the experimentations & seperate recordings they do as indiviuals, they still are always coming out w/ something that is well worth listening. Anyway, that's my two cents.

I'm always in to SY everything they do is great

No arguement here. |
Always and forever
Each moment with you Is just like a dream to me That somehow came true, yeah And I know tomorrow Will still be the same Cuz we got a life of love That won't ever change and [1] - Everyday love me your own special way Melt all my heart away with a smile Take time to tell me you really care And we'll share tomorrow together Ooh baby, I'll always love you forever Ever, ever, ever There'll always be sunshine When I look at you It's something I can't explain Just the things that you do If you get lonely Call me and take A second to give to me That magic you make and [Repeat 1] [Ad lib until fade] |
im very into confusion era and also sister now
|
no, they suck........
bloody stooges rip offs.... no seriously. im probably more into em now as an entity than i ever was. completist freak is a way to describe me......... they are simply the greatest gateway band ever. soooo many other bands i discovered thru sy talking about em or on here, so many genres let alone bands.... sonic life! |
I'm still diggin them, but not as much as I was a few months ago when I was hyped to see them live. I don't have that much time to listen to them because I'm always listening to new stuff every week. It's been a lot of Parliament and Godspeed you black emporer! lately
|
what a great thread
|
I'm always into them. Always always always.
|
I love SY. All of their work. Forever.
|
This is probably the least I've been into them, excluding the time when I did not know them.
I'd probably still come to this board even if I decided I hated the band. |
Me too, Lux. I've been exploring other music lately, haven't had much time for the Youth.
|
I don't listen to them tones anymore but I still like them. I dunno why I post here, actually I think I've been posting here for about 2 years? Maybe 3? I have no clue.
|
Why, what are they doing?
I am in to them. How am I into them? Why, by (p)sychological conditioning of course. I wish my parents were fans. And their parents. And even their parents. But that's impossible, unless we mistakenly identify Sonic Youth as George M. Cohan, Charles Chaplin, Amelia Earhart and Isadora Duncan.. |
Always.
|
Yes, enough to have gone through with having a tattoo done.
|
I've never really been a fan.
|
Far less then when Sonic Nurse came out, but they're still my favourite band, and I'm still listening to Rather Ripped
|
I only go from being into one of the members back and forth. Right now I'm more into Kim than anyone. Fucking The Ineffable Me has been playing so much lately.
|
15 years ago, in the fall in Ohio, as it gets colder and the skeletons of trees take shape, their leaves now forming an earth-toned blankek over the world, I got into SY.
Now, every single fall, I rediscover them. I listen to them non-stop. Winter will come, and I'll listen to a lot of classical. In spring, jazz. In summer, rock n' roll. Then autumn will roll around again, and I'll put on some SY and won't take them off for a while. SO, to answer your question, right now: yes, but it's already diminishing, as I just bought a new Schoenberg CD. |
By the way, IS this a cool indie internet clique?
I doubt it. I've been on for three months or so and I STILL haven't gotten laid because of it. "Hey, sugar. I'm on an SY message board." "That's funny. I'm bored right now." |
I bought Washing Machine recently and I'm back into SY.
The reason why I keep posting here is just because of all the fun people. |
i dont even own washing machine...i will forever be indebted to them for daydream nation...it really doesn't get much cooler than DN and Goo, so i will probably always listen to them...i also love sonic nurse, and they played a great show in atlanta in june...but in the past month, i really haven't listened to them...
|
I've been listening to a lot of Rather Ripped and top-40 radio lately.
|
yeah

Excellent. |
Right now I've only heard 8 of their records, so I have a couple more 'essentials' to buy and countless side projects to discover.
I'm into them now, though I don't listen as often as I did when I first got into them a year or so ago. I listen to a decent amount of music and although I have favorites, sonic youth definitely stand out as the best of the best in my collection. Before hearing sonic nurse I thought they were just some old punk band (I was wrong about the punk part). Definitely not the case, however. They have a ton of great influences (many of which I was familiar with before ie. Can, Captain Beefheart), a vast discography, and to top it off they make good music. |
SY are one of the few bands I always tend to be into. And I still have 2 more albums to get! (NYC and Nurse)
