The Whitey Album
I wasn't expecting much, but I love it beyond words.
I don't skip a single track, not even (Silence). How much do you all love it? |
not very much, i havent got into it yet.
|
I think it is really fun, it's awsome. I do, however, skip 'silence', unless I have a headache or don't feel like physically doing it.
|
I've always liked it. How sick would it be if they busted Macbeth out on tour?!?

i love the fucking album, totally engagging
|
I swear by my statement that Into The Groove surpasses the original in quality. As does Addicted To Love.
|
oh i loooove addicted to love. most people don't, but i do. and yeah into the groovey is way better than the madonna version.
|
2 questions: Has the re-issued whitey album been released yet ?
What are the (if any) bonus tracks on the re-issued whitey album ? |
Quote:
1) Yes 2) There's one which I think is an alt take of MacBeth. I think its superb. noise + beatbox = great album. |
one of my favorite SY records. i love how those ridiculous beats mix w/ the guitars.
HENRIX NECRO! |

|

fucking A I love ciccone youth
it was the third sonic youth album I bought, back in 1988-89 Daydream Nation Goo Cicconne Youth Sonic Death Sonic Youth EP Dirty Evol Bad Moon Rising I bought all these within the years 1988-1992. I love ciconne youth. MACBETH is the single fucking greatest thing on there here is a funny story about Burnin Up. i have the 12 inch single of burnin up b/w Into the Groovey. I have listened to it countless times, COUNTLESS TIMES, and I rocked it so much. one day, about 2 months ago, I realized that I had been playing the Burnin Up side ON 33 1/3 rpm!!!!!!!! FUCK! It is supposed to be played at 45rpm!!! I had no idea! It fucking rocks so hard slow. it sounds great slow. It sounds wholly different and heavy. when I play it regular it sounds liek a completely different versiojn. Oh man, now I do not know which I love more.... if you own the Ciconne Youth 12 inch single, the original one, play Burnin Up at 33 check it out and let me know what you think |
i can't imagine how low watt's voice would be at 33...
iii'mmm buurrrnninnnn... |
I haven't seen the reissue yet, but an alternate version of MacBeth is not a bonus track. It's on all the other versions too (the versions from the 90's). Everyone says that it is an instrumental version, but if you are a SY fan then you know the original is also instrumental. So on the old versions there are both versions of the song.

platoon II ![]() MACBETH ![]() |
I love Thurston's rap on it
|
Macbeth is definitely my favourite track from this album, and i love the video, other good songs are addicted to love, children of satan/third fig, and two cool rock chicks listening to neu!
|
definitely a great collage of music pieces
macbeth is sonic youth in another fucking universe |
I think this record is brilliant as an experiment, but also super-listenable. I love it big time.
|
|
I think Macbeth is an evolutionary step in and of itself. Pre-Radiohead Radiohead.
|
I never, ever got into this record.... I feel for experimenting they took away a lot of what made them so good in the first place. But that was probably their intention.

Half these tracks are awesome, half are ridonkulous, but by the end, you can't tell the difference anymore.
They have suggested when asked in interviews they might be open to doing another one. Gaga Youth? Might be just the thing to break up the awkward separation vibes. |
I love this as much as the "official" Sonic-albums! Only song I don´t like that much is the new version of Nature Scene. I have Goofin´re-release.
|
I've said it before, I love this album.
|
Earlier I've just listened to a few tracks and I didn't like it and I had problems "getting in to" it, but after buying it and listening to it al the way through it became a favourite of mine. It's incredible! I think it's an album that has to grow on you.
Macbeth is just fucking awesome. |
The piece in Me and Jill is quite nice. Steve has a sweet speaking voice.
