Who wrote that? I like that song, though the band sounds like they're probably tossers.

The Only Ones did other good songs besides another girl, another planet. Like "Why don't you kill yourself?"

I might get hung for saying this: New Order- Blue Monday and Bizarre Love Triangle.

I don't really like The Strokes, but I do really like the song 'Someday'.

GeneticKiss 09.23.2006 08:19 PM

The Strokes' first album was good...

I honestly don't understand all the hate for the Strokes...sure they don't have a lot of "cred" or really good lyrics, but they make nice music.

The Raveonettes would be better if they could play/sing in more than one key...but then again I haven't heard anything of theirs since "That Great Love Sound" so maybe they are playing in different keys now...

well, its more of their choice to just use one key, but then again their first album and second album are not in the same key, and on their third one they dropped that whole key thing...

Shellac - Copper

Adam's taking night classes now...Lamer 101.

He knew it would take specialized training to become lamer than most of the other completely lame posts and threads.

His first paper was on how to succesfully become a lifelong drone for Wal-Mart, for which he got an 'A+'.

_slavo_ 09.24.2006 07:45 AM

the yeah yeah yeahs - MAPS

oh this song is heavenly, oh the rest sucks bad.

atari 2600 09.24.2006 07:46 AM

you just like the video hehe

_slavo_ 09.24.2006 07:50 AM

nope nope, just seen the video once in my life.
The song, the harmonics, the lyrics, the passion....a sole touch of a genius, I guess

Onani Nic 09.24.2006 07:59 AM

Your post made me think of another mid-seventies song that suits the category...."Play that Funky Music" by Wild Cherry.

It looks like some Bridget Riley op art made it into that collage.

Tokolosh 09.24.2006 09:39 AM

I like it.

The Lung 09.24.2006 10:27 AM

Swervedriver - Duel

INXS (like Billy Idol) has more good songs than just one...(especially with INXS)

You might know of the original sin
And you might know how to play with fire
But did you know of
the murder committed
In the name of love
You thought what a pity

Dream on white boy
Dream on black girl
Then wake up to a brand new day
To find your dreams are washed away

There was a time when I did not care
And there was a time when the facts did stand
There is a dream and it's held by me
Well I'm sure you had to see
That it's up in arms

Dream on white boy
Dream on black girl
Then wake up to a brand new day
To find your dreams have washed away

You might know of the original sin
And you might know how to play with fire
But did you know of the murder committed
In the name of love
You thought what a pity

Dream on white boy
Dream on black girl
Then wake up to a brand new day
Dream on black boy
Dream on white girl
Then wake up to a brand new day
To find your dreams are washed away
Dream on black boy
Dream on white girl
Then wake up to a brand new day
To find your dreams are washed away

(Dream on) Play with fire
White boy, black girl
(Dream on) The name of love
Black boy, white girl
(Dream on) White boy, black girl
Black boy, white girl

In the name of love, yeah
You thought what a pity
Yeah....
Original sin...

Bono is an INXS fan. Bono wrote his great song "Pride" about MLK. Bono took the germ of his song, the song that (along with Sunday Bloody Sunday to an extent) really broke them in the U.S., from Hutchence's line "In the name of love" from this very song.

"Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief." - Bono, "The Fly"

The Psychedelic Furs - Pretty in Pink.

Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon.

Oasis - that recent one with the undertaker video.

The Undertones - Teenage Kicks.

Others...

Glice 09.24.2006 06:59 PM

Exactly. The rest of their stuff were shite on sticks.

Glice 09.24.2006 07:19 PM

It'll all end in teats.

Пятхъдесят Шест 09.24.2006 07:20 PM

Hm..

I can't think of just one song that I like from a band, and hate all the rest. I think if I like one song, there will more than likely be another by the same band I also like. Even the Psychdelic Furs!
