Escapades sounds great.
My winner so far from what I've heard from SYR9.

the vox on star power just changed my heart beating patterns.

is that the John Cage version of Rain King? If there's anything else after it I'm too bored to wait.

I have a problem with this mixtape:

The left hand reel is revolving anti-clockwise, suggesting that the tape is rewinding, not playing. And the reel is full, while the right hand reel appears to be empty, suggesting that the tape is already fully rewound. Surely the tape is going to break soon?

Maybe that's why Rain King doesn't work.



EDIT - Oh, no. It's not rewinding, is it? It's playing forwards. All is well.

Sick early version of Rain King

It doesn't even sound like rain ing

On my pop up player, the tape got totally tangled in the mechanism and I had to pull it out, delicately remove the whole mess, untangle it, and rewind the tape by hand using a pencil. Slight warble now, but plays okay.


edit: BEST... MIXTAPE... EVER...

I perceive that we are beginning to benefit from the complete digitization and archiving of the sonic sound vaults by professional audio archivists mentioned a while ago. SYR 9 sounds awesome. Daydream-era demos/weird versions: priceless.

lastly, this may be treading thin ice, but i remember with past mixtapes someone posted instructions on how to capture the audio, but I can't find the instructions. this may be because it is against the rules to do so. if so, please do not post them again. If not, please post said instructions. or PM me or something...

no that was the version on the 2009 single.

_slavo_, that version of "Starpower" was available as a digital download for a buck or something at the Sonic Youth Kung Fu Store. Don't know if it's still there, though. I guess it is. I received it as a freebie when i purchased some stuff last year. I probably still have it in my hard drive.
