Of SYRs...
I recently purchased all of the SYRs with only hearing Goodbye 20th Century prior. ( I know that I'm really fucking late in buying them.) To put it lightly I am in love with all of them. I just can't pick a favorite. 1, 2 and 3 are kind of in a trilogy to me. They all buildup to longer tracks and darker static. Goodbye... Is amazing and the 2 discs makes it a monument by itself. Edges is crazy good. SYR5 might be my favorite becuz I love Kim. and of course Stan Brakhage 6 is great. Text of Light............ But anyways, what are the favorites out there?

I only have syr1

I'm glad you like 5. I'm surprised people don't like it. Right when I heard Steve come in on drums in anagrama I grasped the SYR music like a matador and red cloth. I think it's amazing stuff and it triggers very wierd images in my mind. All are great. I haven't listened to all of 6 though. I know i like it already though. |
I've only heard 3 and 4 and 4 is better.

4 is rather wonderful |
4 is a trip.

I only have Goodbye. Need the rest for sure.
So much to get in such little time. |
4's the best, in my opinion, and the rest, while interesting, are a little inconsequential. But 4 is the one that really holds up as an integrated album, full of great ideas.

Yea for sure. It feels really good getting all of the SYRs together in one order. |
at the moment my favourites are 5th & 3rd.
is 5 on vinyl yet? I'm only buying these when I see them on vinyl.
Oh wait, I 'member seeing 5 in the record store. I was a little put off it cuz it's not Sonic Youth per se, but just Kim with two non-SY people. Meh...
my favourite one is syr 1. havent heard 5 and 6 yet tho.
My current fave is 3... and has been for a while.
Ultimately I think that 4 is the most essential... Check this out |
3 and 6 are the most convincing to me, whatever the hell that means... the rest are not without their charms
My favorite is the second one......still.
i'm partial to five and one. anagrama is beautiful.
Three and Four for me! beautiful, ugly and ultimately satisfying - the SYRs have given us some of the best music SY have produced in their career! Which reminds me WE WANT MORE SYRs!
i love all six, i listen to them sometimes consecutively as a sountrack for my day, five fits in really well with in that sphere.
I really dig SYR 1&2
edges are magnificent, indeed.
you are so brave for having bought all of them. I have three and six, six being one of my favorite records of all time, but every time I am in the record store I am to chicken shit to pick up anymore.

lol there in no bravery what so ever in buying records, they wont hurt you, unless of course you accidentally buy jessica simpson or something |
anagrama is my favorite. just because of tremens.
are all SYR discs on colored vinyl?
except the fuckups. some of them got pressed on black vinyl instead of colored. my SYR1 is a fuckup.
so there's no way of telling which is a fuckup?
if you're blind, then no.
well some places don't like you breaking open the seal is all. if it were open then of course... ahh whatever. thx for the info...

when is SYR6 coming to vinyl?
I have all six SYR plus Silver Session which is almost a SYR...
My ranking: 1) SYR3 2) SYR6 3) SYR1 4) SYR4 5) SYR5 6) SYR2 But I give them all a 18/20... |

Where'd you get Silver session? |
On a amazing record store, the Lille's (France) FNAC... You can get rarities there! Silver Session was in a perfect state and for only 16€ ($16)

Damn, there just isn't a good record store like that around where I live. There's a place called Innersleeve near my house and it has a modest selection of CDs and vinyls. The aging gray ponytail hipster owner orders imports but can't always get ahold of them. I guess it is still kool becuz there's a tie-dyed couch in there where you can chill. Innersleeve is more of hipster hangout than record store i guess. |

It is $20.59.
an easier way to say it: "more than i am willing to pay."
