I might say it was better than RELAPSE. Maybe. But either way it doesn't matter. I think he, and we (or me) was hoping for something much much better out of RELAPSE becuz it was meant as a "comeback" album. or wahtever.

Eminem has two incredible albums, a mediocore one (eminem show), a pretty bad one (Encore) and Relapse.. which is saved by Dre.
He's a great rapper on MMLP and SSLP but he needs to get some more consistency before I can truly put him up there with the greats.

I really can't get into Eminem anymore. I recognize his talent on earlier records but it's a certain style I can't get into. His verses tend to be either too frantic or too monotone. I feel like Eminem has two sides, obnoxious and sedated.

I was so upset about RELAPSE, but the verses he has on "Forever" by Drake and "Drop The World" with Weezy are so amazing that I have hopes for this new one.

this is basically true. I think he's great when he's actually saying something ("Toy Soldiers") as opposed to just trying to shock people (the Christopher Reeves bit).

Yeah except for that song with Lil Wayne on it. By default, that one is worse than the rest. Overall, Recovery is definitely worse than Relapse. It's just so bland!

I say he hit his peak with the Slim Shady LP (y'know, when he was biting ESHAM the hardest). It's the record that Infinite, and his Soul Intent shit was building up to. Every album after it, has just gotten worse, and worse. I think he fell off completely after Eminem Show.

^ You're probably right, I do believe that is the general opinion. I just consider Slim Shady LP to be one of the greatest hip-hop releases of all time. So, even a great album like Marshall Mathers can't necessarily hold a flame to it for me.

His old shit is insane, which is why it's such a shame that he's so lame now. I don't even get excited when I hear his verses on the radio... and I'm from Detroit! His stupid ass is plastered on like half the billboards here.

There's these clips on Youtube of him just slaughtering people in rap battles. Literally mindblowing, or that track Biterphobia off the Soul Intent cassette... it's unreal.

What kills me about Em is how hot or cold he is. I feel like there's no middle ground. He's either amazing, or shit. His songs are either amazing or shit. I'd even settle for "just ok" songs. But I either love them, or am annoyed by them. It's weird.
