Iceland dust
The invisible cloud from Iceland (800 kms away from GB), made of nothing (maybe a bit of dust), has invaded northern Europe.
Now no plane can fly because of it. Someone has an interpretation?? (but maybe the sky in the UK is filled with dark smoke right now?) |
It's cause hip hop isn't real music.
And I haven't even seen a CLOUD in days. |
Volcanic ash is very fine with glass and fine particlesthat can clog up engines, and doesn't show up on radar like rain/storm clouds do. It is very dangerous to fly in because ofthis.

some pics from the volcano in iceland:

is this what they call cloud computing?

Man, fuck Iceland.
First they took billions of our money and now their stupid volcanoes caused me to miss all kinds of gigs this past weekend. I'd love to go there one day though. |
One, perhaps told with more glee by Icelanders than by mainland Europeans, has Iceland misunderstanding what Europe was requesting: “We wanted cash,” Europe says, “not ash.” (NYTimes today)

i think it's pretty cool how a purely natural phenomenon can suddenly screw up all of our high-tech possibilities: it's like nature saying 'fuck you guys, i'm still in charge here and if i don't want you to go to the other side of the world in nine hours I WON'T LET YOU!' |

I'm usually not a fan of puns, but that's a great one. |
oh and btw, in 1783 the laki volcano erupted for about eight months, killing half of the animals in iceland and causing a famine that killed almost one third of the population. woah!
|
Oh and the last two times this particular volcano erupted, it triggered a much larger volcano called Katla, killed thousands of Icelanders and caused famine across much of Europe.
Lovely. |
It's also heavily affected trade in Kenya. They can't export flowers, fruit or vegetables to the UK or Europe.
|
oh hai holycrapocalypse!

I have been following this thing since early Wednesday morning last week. They had already evacuated the area. We watch alot of weather channel because of my husband's job. crazy shit man |
that APOD pic is awesome.
that volcanic dust is something else. when the glacier melted into the caldera it created blasts of tiny glassyparticles. those would KILL a yet engine. like throwing sand in them. |
ash can't stop my flapping wings.
|
Nice pictures. I loved number 12 of the 18 and I wonder how high the water usually is on number 4?
Wicked picture! Ink..... |
Did anyone see the meteor in the sky last week? The weather channel had great footage from a police car of ther whole thing. It was only played once. The one they have shown since then is very vague and poor quality. I think it is odd of them to not show the other footage. I have googled it and cannot find that same footage. weird.

Ísland ryk (iceland dust) sounds also a nice song name to sigur rós. |
Anything Icelandic would probably sound like a Sigur Ros song title.
