Bitch about traffic cameras.

Big Brother does exist and he is a traffic camera. I just got another bullshit ticket from them for apparently failing to make a full and complete stop and waiting 5 seconds before turning on red.

Anngella 12.06.2009 03:48 AM

So glad we don't have many of those where I usually drive.

Silent Dan Speaks 12.06.2009 08:28 PM

I'm pretty glad they don't have those where I live.

phoenix 12.06.2009 10:08 PM

it's because we drive on the right and not the left. you can turn right on red but not left.

atsonicpark 12.07.2009 08:08 AM

....traffic cameras?!

wellcharge 12.07.2009 08:22 AM

it doesn't sound like a bullshit ticket to me, it sounds like you committed a ticketable offense

Yeah, he got caught, and now he's whinging about it on here. What a wuss.

gmku 12.07.2009 08:26 AM

I think it's a pretty good idea. There aren't enough cops out there to catch all the terrible, i.e., dangerous, drivers. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

atsonicpark 12.07.2009 08:55 AM

Yeah, it's an awesome idea, but getting tickets for waiting 5 seconds to turn? Come on.

punkaspoo 12.07.2009 09:09 AM

learn how to drive

Just be careful. Or, if you don't agree with the ticket, you can contest it.

The fact that I'm pissed about is that it is all because of a camera. Had I gotten stopped/ticketed for the same thing by a human being, I would have been fine with it. This ticket is the same thing as getting a ticket in the mail every time you went 1 mph/kph over the speed limit.

gmku 12.07.2009 12:06 PM

They've been doing this in Germany for decades now, maybe even all over Europe. I think it's efficient and smart. Theoretically, at least, this frees up cops to focus more of their human workforce on bigger things than traffic violations.

demonrail666 12.07.2009 12:07 PM

pffft, this from a man who only recently found out about french presses.

gmku 12.07.2009 12:44 PM

pfft, I don't need no stinking French presses.

And for the record, I have KNOWN about them for many-a-year. I have not had any interest in or need for them until recently. sheesh.

demonrail666 12.07.2009 12:45 PM

denial. it's not just a river in egypt, you know.

gmku 12.07.2009 12:46 PM

That's hilarious. I don't think I've ever heard that joke before!

floatingslowly 12.07.2009 12:46 PM

actually, I've considered starting a petition to have these installed.

I'm so sick of people running every single red light.

I want to know the cost comparison of having them out in vs. how many people get hit at red lights and DIE.

demonrail666 12.07.2009 12:56 PM

i had them installed in my house. a complete waste of money.

Yes, one of my pet peeves is bad drivers. They don't realize how dangerous they are.

Also, do bicyclists ever get stopped by the cops? Why is it they think they can get away with riding through red lights, etc.? Don't they have to obey the same traffic laws as motorists?

demonrail666 12.07.2009 01:17 PM

in my country cyclists are only allowed to use public roads between 9pm and 3am.

gmku 12.07.2009 01:18 PM

How many points are motorists awarded for each one they run down? Sounds like a good game!

demonrail666 12.07.2009 01:26 PM

if it's between 'cyclist friendly' hours, nothing, and if they're knocked down during what we call 'prohibited time' they still don't get any points, but the cyclists are just left to die by the roadside until 9pm. that's when hospitals are allowed to treat them. some say it's harsh.

gmku 12.07.2009 03:58 PM

yes, I'd rather deal with a camera ticket than the hassle and embarrassment of getting pulled over by a traffic cop--who might just take the time to find other things wrong, either with your car (you can get fined for lights that are out, for example) or with you (if you happen to have misplaced your insurance card or registration, for example). At least with the camera, you ony get fined for what the camera captures.
