Parental Advisory
What does it mean?
Is it used for artistic concern? For commercial concern? How come most rap records are tagged PA, but almost no records of any other genres are, whatever crude words they use?? |

yr an idiot. |
There is no governing PA body. The record companies themselves label the album with a sticker. With the rise of rap music in white suburbia, WASP parents didn't want their children to be exposed to all the obscenity. With is pointless, because edited rap albums are 25-50% blank.
|
I think it started with 2LiveCrew. And yeah, it has to do with swear words and obscenity. Before rap music there really weren't that many albums that used swear words that frequently, so I guess people let it slide.
|
I can remeber when the GnR use yr issusion discs came out. They were labled as such. I had to get my mom to but them for me cause I was only 13.
|
young uns don;t remember Frank Zappa and Dee Snider taking a rock cactus and shoving it up the assholes of Tipper Gore and the PMRC
learn yr music history!@ |
Rob, have you ever seen the "round table" discussion with Zappa about "pornography" in music?? Search for it on youtube. I forget the name of the show or the host, but it's amazing.
|
by the way, what I'd really like to do is list as many awesome NON HIP HOP albums that feature the parental advisory sticker to point out what dbag gaulbert is.
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral Nirvana - Incesticide Smashing Pumpkins - Rotten Apples Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic Madonna - Erotica keep em coming please |
Didn't all that crap start because of "Darling Nikki"?
|
"Darling Nikki" is great. Which reminds me, several Prince albums have PA stickers.
The Symbol Album? Come? Emancipation? (going by memory here) |

What's next? Christina Aguilera?? And according to wikipedia, Incesticide and Downward Spiral are not PA tagged. |

1. Xtina has a great voice. 2. Yes they both were. Actual STICKERS though, not drawn on the artwork itself. |

My favorite album to have a parental advisory sticker is AMEN - We Have Come For Your Parents.

I don't doubt that for a second ... |
Hem.
I hope someone will talk about what this thread is about, sometimes. In the meantime: woooh, Christina is hot, the Jonas Brothers are gorgeous!!, Tom Cruise is super sexy, Jlo has a great butt, woohoo! |
why does NYCG+F have one? i am baffled.
i have the clash's london calling on elpee, and there's a square sticker on the front (between paul simonon's legs) that reads "THIS ALBUM INCLUDES LYRIC CONTENT WHICH MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO SOME MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC." predating the parental advisory square, perhaps? |
this thread is lame. parental advisory stickers have been around almost 25 years now. what's the big whup? wal mart will nto sell abums with the sticker.
it was a self-regulating thing adopted by the record labels to stop the government from regulating it themsselves because tipper gore is a dumb fucking whorecunt who got scared that her daughter was listening to prince records. |
it really DID fuck up tipper's daughter! check it!

Record shop can put stickers on any records! (any stickers by the way, like -20%, -30%, buy 5 records and get a free hamburger, whatever..) But the PA label can't be removed, do you have an opinion about this ? |
Does anyone enjoy neg repping gualbert as much as I do?
|
i usually don't neg rep people... except CHARLES WEBSTER BAER...
(meep. offtopicish.) |
Well generally people here are open-minded... but gualbert is an ignorant pig that probably uses rap music to hide his blatant racism.

thats not true, most of the non-rap albums I have bought have had parental advisory stickers on them.. when I was a kid in middle school some stores wouldn't sell me PA stickered discs without an 'adult' around.. but I believe the PA stickers are up to the discretion of the seller.. and the real question is why are all the rap cds in security devices but all the other albums are not? if anything, white people steal waayy more than other folks.. for instance.. ![]() and shall we forget.. ![]() |
Maybe that's a big difference between US and Europe.
I don't recall having seen PA stickers on any records (only printed one). |
