Why Wish Fullfillment...
I know this has prolly been asked before, but I lurked for years, and finally registered, so I figured I would ask a question:
Why has Wish Fullfillment never been played live? Best SY song ever!!! Maybe cause it's a Lee song? Much Respect to all on the bored! BTW, they rocked the shit out of philly last week, can't wait until the Allentown show in Aug. with WEEN and Flaming Lips! |
Because I told them not to play it live and they obliged.
|
i love this song too, but i just want to hear more lee songs live in general. Anyone notice on this tour he's only been doing one (rats). I gotta fever and the only prescription is more live lee songs!!!!!!!
|
I need that same prescription filled, stat!
|
lee did rats, and Eric's Trip last night.
|
i'm not sure but i think it was played live (what i remember from the thread on old board)...but only once or so
|
Protect Me You has never been played live.....
|
Lee did Wish Fulfillment on 9-5-00 with Steve and Jim. T and K were MIA on personal business, so Lee did a bunch of his songs. Fantastic stuff!!! i seeded a soundboard of this a while back. PM me if you want it.
also, i must say that Lee must start doing other stuff besides Eric's fukking Trip live!!!! good song, but my least listened to SY song. it's just loud, fast and easy to play live. i know it so well from seeing it 7 times, i could fart it. heck, i'll take what i get from SY. it's guaranteed to be gold! |

I saw Lee perform this song solo in early '99. It was a show at which he, Kim and Thurston each did a solo set, then they gathered with other musicians to perform material from Goodbye 20th Century, which was released later.
|
but it's really intrguing the fact they never played this song live together.
i 'm curious to hear all those guitar noises live... but it seems they'll never play it live, why? that is what they have never answered as far as i know |
Sometimes people don't play songs they wrote with strong emotions or events attached to them. "Too true sometimes to play all the time." It's possible that it could be a sore spot or something.
Just a thought. Seems like a personal enough song. |
would someone be willing to put up an mp3 of a live version of wish fullfillment ?

Here's a live version of Wishfulfillment. I forgot what show it was from and the date. It's just Lee by himself. If anybody has any info on this show, please tell me.
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=0428E8F542635657 edit. Sorry, i didn't read the whole thread. That's the one habibtheantiamericanbitch was talking about. |
|
Well he just goes and explains it there, too. Excellent.
He's obviously not used to playing the song. I love raw stuff like that. |
Wish fullfillment...
Is kinda lame |

Is that Jim on guitar? I can hear him say 'its not right, sorry'. |
Actually now that I think about it, I used to hate the song. I skipped it all the time. It was the first Lee song I heard, too, so I didn't like him at first. I had to listen to it in the right situation to see it, and now it's one of my favorite SY songs. Not a big fan of the CD, though.
Sounded to me like it was just Lee there. |
Mote and Hey Joni kicks wf's ass...
|
hoarfrost also beats up on wish fulfillment. i have a live lee show from 1996 in hartford, ct where he does a stunning solo version of WF that makes the dirty one seem even more egregiously wrong. i have always been a fan of Dirty...the newfound poppy sheen-n-gloss SY played with for that album fit most of the songs very well. but not with WF; that one needed less studio trapping to be most effective, and the few live renditions lee has done that are out there prove it.

"this next song is called wish fullfillment, this is an older song i wrote to a dear friend of mine at a time when we weren't really seeing eye to eye about things"
This is probably why he doesnt play it live that much, still a shame cause i love the song.Genetic too. |

Yeah, I'll upload it in a couple of days in the sonic sharing section. |
thanks all, that solo version sounds pretty nifty.
But I don't think SY ever played this song live? I guess I am going to the next Lee solo performance then... |

I love Genetic too. But if it brings up bad vibes I can understand that. Sort of like Tori Amos did not do songs from 'Y Kant Tori Read' for many, many years. |
