|
Back in the 80's I had no less then "The Breakfast Club", "Ferris Buller's Day Off" and "Planes Trains and Automobiles" on videocassete, and watched them countless number of times.
|
Excercise Kills!
|

Let's just hope he did not die home alone
RIP |
Man, that sucks, this guy directed two of my favorite movies of the 80's (Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club) and other very good movies and he wrote the Home Alone movies... RIP, man.

Sad news. I really love his films. He kinda defines the 80s for me, film-wise.
|
Lamelamelame.
|
he had a heart atack during his morning walk.
|
aside from uncle buck, i cant watch any of his movies. they're all terribly dated cheesy 80's teen flicks.
although i did love home alone as a kid (but what kid didn't?) |
Ferris Bueller is a classic!
R.I.P. Mr Hughes |
jerf, you don't like national lampoon's vacation? christmas vacation?
I laughed hard at those. planes trains? That shit gets funny and REAL. |
Damn. Sad news indeed.

oh yeah, i forgot national lampoons christmas vacation was his. add that to the list then. the european vacation, not as good. plane, trains and automobiles was meh. john candy was way better as uncle buck. |
This guy wrote or directed some of my all time favorite movies: Home Alone 1 and 2, Uncle Buck, Planes Trains Automobiles, and Dutch. He will be missed :(
|
if you guys only knew how many times i watched HA 1 & 2
|
Quote:
this man made the best movies ever. peace out hughes. |
kevin buzz and fuller were like my brothers
|
Uncle Buck is a classic.
|
aw man. ):
fuck. i still love the breakfast club. (... i just found out his hometown is lansing, too! omg!) |
he wrote weird science.
|
and Mr. Mom, 16 candles, pretty in pink,
|
I wonder if he's been sick for awhile.
his talent seemed to have dried up recently. |
Every movie that was mentioned (that I've seen - which actually isn't that much, but still) I love. RIP
|
He was amazing. And this is why (1) shit was hilarious, obviously. But more importantly (2) shit had heart. A lot of heart. Which is what's missing from a lot comedies now. People forget that escapism doesn't mean you have to escape from yr feelings. (yeah, that sounds emo -- but I'm being for realz.)
He was a great writer, with more "classics" under his bealt than most ppl realized. and he will be missed. |
he stopped working in hollywood around 1999 or so too much. he was sick of the whole bullshit and so he just kinda chilled.
heart attacks get the sick and the healthy. |
I always wished that he made this:
Jaws 3: People 0 – a parody sequel to the popular series I think a screenplay exists. They should make it in tribute to him. Cast all the BratPack kids and all that. Would be awesome. |
it's going to be hard to top Jaws - The Revenge (this time it's personal).
I believe that was the closest that I've ever been to throwing a brick through my tv set. |
is that the one with Mario Van Peebles?
|
Talk about a motherfucking bummer. He was a Michigander as well...

There has been a real lack of truly funny comedies for a looooong time. All we have is those romantic ones, moronic teen gross-out comedies, and ultra-lame "parody" movies. Actually it's not just comedies, in my opinion. There were some good movies in the 1990s but it's been a downhill slide. |
Wasn't it great grrowing up in the eighties?
|
Gail you can cry on my shoulder if yr rly sad
