To the American'ts, what are your July 4th plans?

I'll be having some huge redneck dinner with the family of a friend's girlfriend.

Actually not the first redneck July 4th but, you know, different kind of redneck. Should be fun regardless.

schizophrenicroom 07.03.2009 12:32 PM

be with my love and his parents in miami.

Seandi 07.03.2009 12:36 PM

Get drunk and play some Ted Nugent records. Same as every year.

HaydenAsche 07.03.2009 12:43 PM

Burn flags, smoke crack.

Same as every other day of the year.

automatic bzooty 07.03.2009 01:12 PM

frolicking in a park with friends during the day, watching people explode things at night. potato salad somewhere in between.

Sonic Youth 37 07.03.2009 01:51 PM

Driving 3 and a half hours to a town that I lived in for 8 years to spend 4th of July night with a friend, also seeing another friend. Spewing anti-American sentiment most of the way.

terriblecanyons 07.03.2009 02:17 PM

Quoting Dazed and Confused while giving Denver hell.

Edit: I have this memorized

Okay guys, one more thing, this summer when you're being inundated with all this American bicentennial Fourth Of July brouhaha, don't forget what you're celebrating, and that's the fact that a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic, white males didn't want to pay their taxes.

You're right, people of other countries should celebrate our independence, too.

nicfit 07.03.2009 03:09 PM

SuperCreep 07.03.2009 03:13 PM

"I stayed home on the Fourth of July/And I pulled the shades so I didn't have to see the sky/And I decided to have a bed-in/But I forgot to invite anybody."

davenotdead 07.03.2009 04:07 PM

coughing and sneezing

Dead-Air 07.03.2009 04:14 PM

My wife's dancing because her car died on us on her way to work Wed. and we desperately need the money to fix it or replace it now (plus she lost a night). So I'll be home drinking red wine, watching my son, and playing lots of sonic youth.

I do have a pretty big radio show planned in the daytime though!

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 07.03.2009 04:46 PM

See my friend's band play this local park in the afternoon.

Go home and grill on my wood-fired barbecue

Back here at home, I'm working all weekend......won't mind it so much tonight as I will be making triple time for working the holiday and I don't mind that one bit. I'm slow cooking some BBQ ribs on the grill as I type. Corn and sweet potatoes will join them in a while......it should all be ready in three hours or so.

In the meantime, think I might go start on a mixtape......

I'm BBQing some ribs up tonight too! I made this marinade with red wine, dijon mustard, pico pica and hot salsa, soy sauce, shitloads of black pepper and fresh garlic, and more judicious amounts of ginger, nutmeg, and cumin. It smelled so fucking good, my wife commented on it in the next room, and it's been marinating since noonish (I won't be cooking it until after 9 PM when she gets home!)

ZEROpumpkins 07.03.2009 09:00 PM

Oh, nothing much. Just testing out some missiles over Hawaii.

Hadn't even put the sense of humor factor into his timing...

ZEROpumpkins 07.03.2009 09:04 PM

Huh? You're gonna have to explain what you mean to me...

Dead-Air 07.03.2009 09:15 PM

Oh, our silly American tradition of launching fireworks on the anniversary of the signing of our Declaration of Independence. They must be to simulate the "rockets' red glare" in our National Anthem, though that is about the Battle of New Orleans in our War of 1812 (which was technically over during the battle!) He must have got a real laugh to be launching his missiles with that backdrop!

I saw Judas Priest outdoors last night.
I think anything else would be anticlimactic.

Shifty Prophet 07.04.2009 10:07 AM

I'm drunk, still drunk from last night and im not planning on sleeping any, well maybe during some shitty bands at the park. Nothing gives me more leasure than to fall asleep amidst a bunch of noise kids that think they are listening to some harsh shit. then im gonna get drunk, talk american history and anti-american policy in the middle east and south america. fireworks...not really, maybe shotguns and pistols, yes, guns are always a fair decision when basking in the glories of this nations freedoms.

I have a way, a plan, a time, the road, gimmick, foley, and action potential. you fuck, leave it alone with the space, center, divine, lonely and calm.

When i wake up from this day I' will turn my home black, ill burn my life and listen to the osmonds while doing so.

basically, shit and excuses thats the plan, maybe sex but im not concerned, its become all to silly as of late. they sent me here, with gloating chasms of diservice.
