Current Most Sought After Record...

For me, its the Scarcity of Tanks lp "No Endowments".

Been searching for this fucker since I read this review:
SCARCITY OF TANKS: No Endowments LP/CS (TOTAL LIFE SOCIETY) Damn, this tape smokes. I mean it's practically a Saccharine Trust tribute album, but that's a pretty admirable target and Scarcity of Tanks hit a bullseye. Matthew Wascovich, whom you may know from his Cleveland-based Slow Toe imprint, writes and voices the fightin' words and, I assume, plays the screeching and cutting guitar (actually a little more Mark Morgan than Joe Baiza to these ears). No credits so I don't know who the rhythm section is but it is most definitely bass and drums and the players are going for it.(UPDATE: The album features a few different lineups, featuring members from Cleveland bands "x-blank-x, ugly beauty, my dad is dead, prisonshake, pufftube, numbskull, self destruct button," and none other than Weasel Walter contributing guitar, bass, and drums... vinyl version coming out in December soon!)

I saw them live with Bloodyminded once and they really do rip, the comparison to Saccharine Trust is fitting, as the sound resembles that band at its most deconstructed and frantic, which if you ask me, is when they were at thier best. Aside from a few tracks I downloaded, I havn't been able to find this fuker anywhere, not in casette of lp format, its a total drag.

My current most-sought-after LP is the Russian bootleg of daydream nation

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 06.24.2009 03:02 PM

It's a 7 inch import, though I can get it I just don't know if I want to drop $15 on a two track record.
white vinyl - 100 copies sold out
black vinyl - 400 copies, quickly going.

pokkeherrie 06.24.2009 04:17 PM

Hmmm.... I think it's still Gate - The Lavender Head 2LP.

Go careful with that. I have a re-issue, and it doesn't have the lock groove and it's mastered quite poorly. I haven't heard an original edition (I think it was only the first pressing that had the lock-groove on side 4) but the one I have isn't really worth it. Although, it is preferable to the CD version.

I've got one. Locked groove and all
How much would you be willing to pay?

viewtiful_alan 06.24.2009 05:08 PM

As for me:
The Sonic Youth/Mudhoney Split 45'

Rob Instigator 06.24.2009 06:45 PM

I spoke too soon, earlier

I desperately need to find the French Kali Yug Express 10"

radarmaker 06.24.2009 07:08 PM

The one I've been looking for the longest is probably an original Home Of The Hits pressing of the 1st Modern Lovers LP.

Are you a discogs.com member Rob? There's 4 copies for sale in the marketplace there: http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?rel...d=659435&ev=rb

viewtiful_alan 06.24.2009 07:33 PM

no wait that 7 inch is my 2nd most sought, but thanks for the link, its on my items watching list.

My real pick is Sub Pop 100

Derek 06.24.2009 07:36 PM

There is a typo on the B side label: text reads © 1892 Savage Conquest. I realize the Youth ain't that young no more, but don't think they date back to the 19th century.

The Earl Of Slander 06.24.2009 08:12 PM

I guess it would probably have to be Cecil Taylor - Nefertiti, the Beautiful One Has Come, the double or the triple vinyl editions...

narlus 06.24.2009 09:06 PM

i have these. :D

I have the double vinyl. I have blown minds with it

Shifty Prophet 06.25.2009 09:42 AM

I always draw a blank when this question is posed, even though I have a dozen 45's and lp's I want, I can never come up with a title that is that rare or hard to find.

al shabbray 06.25.2009 10:35 AM

I received mine today, its one of groupers "dragging a dead deer up a hill" vinyl copy

Rob Instigator 06.25.2009 04:40 PM

I love scratching things off a LIST!

al shabbray 06.25.2009 04:41 PM

^^yes its pretty satisfying

Death & the Maiden 06.26.2009 01:38 AM

There's stuff I want, but nothing that's that rare or hard to get. Anyway:
Boris - Flood
These Immortal Souls - Get Lost (Don't Lie!)
Malice Mizer - Memoire DX/Bara no Seidou
The Verlaines - Hallelujah All the Way Home/Bird-Dog

Rob Instigator 09.28.2009 08:48 PM

I want DE LA SOUL
STAKES IS HIGH on vinyl.

Satan 09.28.2009 08:51 PM

probably No Trend's When Death Won't Solve Your Problems, but my "most sought" list was exhausted when I bought the Gosling's Between the Dead and Clockcleaner's The Hassler.

until I remember what else is an absolute priority, that is.

edit: "you go on", a 45 by the bach's lunch. this happens to me in record stores. terrible.

i've seen this on ebay several times.

on that note, it's one of my favorite records. i should probably remember to look for it next time i have a hundred dollars or so.

Satan 09.28.2009 10:47 PM

i have looked high and low on ebay. no dice (i want the original, they put out a remix 12" in 2004, i bought it to have it but still).

creepy disco rules.

it's the original i've seen, not the remix. it's about timing... checking ebay every three days sort of timing.

the two releases under the Black Devil Disco Club moniker are comparatively easy to find, it's a wonder i don't have them yet.

chris2159 09.29.2009 02:21 PM

Richard Hell and the Voidoids Destiny Street on vinyl - It's rare in the UK

Genteel Death 09.29.2009 02:24 PM

automatic bzooty 09.29.2009 07:27 PM

I just checked on eBay and it didn't look like it was insanely priced, but it wasn't cheap. House Rockin was about $40 and some others were cheaper. They look pretty rare though... only 7 total including CDs were on there.

narlus 09.29.2009 10:11 PM

that used to be super-expensive before the recession

http://www.popsike.com/php/quicksear...gories&x=0&y=0

automatic bzooty 09.29.2009 10:38 PM

guhhh.

strange how the cheapest of their records is the only one i haven't heard.
