Hi folks, just wanted to let you know that I've updated the Tab Archive w/ some stuff I think people have been waiting for... Bubblegum, Pay No Mind, Chinese Jam, Smoke Blisters 3 & 4, and Silver Breeze, to name a few (a few I didn't think anyone would give a shit about, so I tabbed most of 'The Eternal' instead..)

I'm always amazed how you do this, so quickly too. I was always so proud that you gave me a mention on the mary christ tab.
what kind of a player are you that you can do a whole album this quickly?

hmm no, i don't think i'm actually that great at figuring songs out perfectly, and i definitely don't try as often as i did when i was younger, but watching those pitchfork performances really made me want to figure the songs out, and i like puzzles so anytime thurston has a new tuning it's fun to try to crack it thru trial and error. i thooought i had succeeded but 'lo-fi suicide' has me second guessing myself...

i'll say this: the record is probably so damn good because the songs are so FUN to play. i could play around in lee's 'schizo' tuning for hours, and i can't believe it took him 22 years to write more songs in it! (practically the entire album, too!)

i meant to emphasize how rough these tabs are, though, i just realized that i was working enough of em out that i might as well post em. i'm hoping that dude who did the golden 3-guitar tabs for albums like 'nurse' and 'rather ripped' will reappear soon...

i think DADAAD (for Thurston) is more correct, bit i can be wrong too :/

i'm not sure, i don't think he changes tunings (unlike kim!!) and once i clicked on using the DDAF#AD tuning (which was one of kim's) for thurston's parts, those low unison Ds made everything clear: the sheer heaviness of every song that was missing from my earlier "DADXXX" attempts was suddenly unavoidable. his custom jazzmasters should come pre-tuned to that tuning.

check 'calming the snake', i think it has the open F# string in the intro?

i suppose it's possible that he does retune! i'd like to hear more people's opinions.. also on the 'C tuning' songs...

especially if Thurston himself tell us the true tuning

that takes the fun out of it! i'll find out next month anyway...

hey, AWESOME! that confirms it, thanks! i wish i could see a better pic of that, looks like they're early notes on how to play some of the eternal tunes (though i can never really decipher the way they draw their chords on those vertical fretboards!).

i think kim may be in DADABD on antenna, but haven't actually figured anything out beyond her intro.

anyway, something does not converge with DDAF#AD on Sacred Trickster

as for that set list, that's where i got the DDAF#AD tuning from initially, i guess kim uses it on 'anti-orgasm' too. the problem is that i don't think they update them when they add new songs so 'kim jag' and 'old jag' may refer to the same guitar, which may also just be in DDAF#AD..

is kim using at least 3 guitars now? the pink/black jazzmaster, a red jazzmaster, and the red jaguar?

I was just playing around in the thurston tuning DDAF#AD, definitley see how these songs workout in this tuning, I had thought i heard less of the "pavement" tuning on this album. But man definitely need heavy strings for this though, just like that DD# tuning on rather ripped. i don't want to change string gauges right now so i've approximated... i like the DADAAD tuning mentioned earlier but landed on a variation of the two already mentioned that i now love: DADF#AD as its not as "limiting" as those very sonic unison-esque tunings.


btw, pretty sure to my ears that for 'walkin blue' and 'massage the history', thurston is in the DDAF#AD tuning or a slight varation of it.

one thing that threw me for a loop was that pitchfork ADD live performance video, where T plays the same guitar throughout (except schizo???) black and white jazz? (and it looked to me with an original bridge???) maybe i have to watch that again, but i don't think all those songs are in the same tuning ( i know schizo is obviously not)

Chris Lawrence, i meant Anti-Orgasm has the base D tone throughout the whole song, how can it be in CGD
btw CGDGCD (CGDGBB) is my favourite tuning, cannot play standart :)

In Dusseldorf Kim was using the black -thurston -jazz as well . I think for 'what we know' tuned in CGDACD

Thurston and Kim are in DDAF#AD, Lee is in CGDCGD.

Yeah that A>D>D thing, Thurston uses the same guitar for all 3 tunings and it's not even his green one, very odd...?
