bad attitudes, bad feelings, bad misinformed opinions. oneupmanship. children crying over shit being said, bitching, even back stabbing, people giong out of their way to prove someone wrong, ego boosting, popularity contests, namecalling, giving out cuz people are having fun.

yeah i know im perpetuating to this scene of crap threads but really i am fed up with this place and the fucking snobbery attitude thats going on. the fun is being suckied right out of it. its only a forum as ive said umteen times but its becoming really reallly difficult to stop myself becoming one of the nasty people! its hard to stop myself typing the name wanker beside some folks names.

im not leaving, shit i probably wont even log out i just wanted to vent some spleen over this place which used to be good. the sense of community is really giong from here and thats a fucking crying shame!!!!!!! you know what im talking about, the sense of belonging in a club.

i got a pm from someone saying "i dont know shit about sy, go fuck off and listen to your piddling alice in chains crap!" - im not divulging this stupid, absolute ignorants individuals name to save him/her/it the embarrassment of it but to him may i say a big fuck you and get a life, you obviously have no clue how to read letters and words, no sense of humour, and absolutely no brains in that hollow capacity known as a head! see this is what i mean, im getting very close to being nasty paulybee........ maybe i should sign up an alterego!

PAULYBEE2656 try the D.I.Y. SY forum.All you have to do is put on ignore all the posters whose posts you are certain are incosequential.It's very dada and it makes for surreal reading.

Being new to the forum, I did find it strange how negative a lot of posts seem to be. I don't mind the flippant, funny, ironic etc., but the sniping at each other is a bit annoying. After all, we were all drawn to this forum because of what we've got in common.

I think you have to just be selective in what you read/take part in.

For some reason I feel it's been the same for about two years, ever since nurse came out causing a flood of new members. All the oldies have been whining ever since, and I concur to an extent (although back then I was one of the annoying noobs, god I wrote some stupid shit).
But all in all, nothing new under the sun.
I just try to stay off the flamewars.

I think the problem is not so much the mud-slinging/attempts at witticisms/mindless banter, but the people who take the aforementioned far too seriously.

To instigate a feud based on someone's musical preferences is just absurd. Of course, we comment negatively on others' taste, but at least for me personally, it doesn't mean I actually have any animosity toward that person.

A sense of community is all warm and fuzzy and heartening and all, but the benefit of a forum to me lies in the exchange of opinions, and the dissension that provides new perspectives. Collectively worshipping SY only provides so much conversational meat.

The only persistent problem I've noticed are the isolated incidents in which a new (and in some cases veteran) poster comes along and attempts to incite asinine conflicts. In those cases, I blame not the troll, but you dumb fucks who take the bait and perpetuate the arguments.

Two current examples: khchris(original) and Sonic Susie.

If their targets are too volatile or moronic to ignore their petty attempts at amusing themselves, then they deserve any resultant grief.

The point I'm (quite convolutedly) trying to make is, the board is bound to have its valleys, but for the most part (and I'm not referring to you at all PAULYBEE), the people who complain about the negativity on the board are, by their mere acknowledgement of the situation, the ones who are perpetuating it most.

And above all, LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP! I know acerbic wit is a dying and oft-misinterpreted art form, but christ, at least make an ATTEMPT not to be so painfully dense.

problem i see with this place is too many people trying to be top dog of some kind of fictional heirachy. too much ass kissing and pretending to be some kind of hyper intelligent being. this place has become overun with sycophantic boredom. its so obvious and getting incresingly tedious.

I agree that this can be a pretty clique-y board sometimes, but I think it is actually far less so than the old one. I always felt like I was a bit-part player on the old board, even though I was on there for about three years before it closed down, and there was a definite feeling of there being an "old guard" who ruled the roost. I got flamed numerous times for stating an honest opinion, and in the end I hardly ever wanted to post. This new board is generally much more welcoming, I think.
