McLusky

Why did I take so long to listen to this band? Awesome! I heard My Pain and Sadness is more Sad and Painful Than Yours... should I listen to their other records?

Everyneurotic 01.16.2009 07:44 PM

duh but mclusky does dallas is a precocious classic.

pretty much everything they did was great, try to listen to the 3 cd version of mcluskyism, cds 2 and 3 are worth the effort of searching for them.

Pax Americana 01.16.2009 08:39 PM

I love everything Mclusky ever did. Even their B-sides collection is amazing. Great fucking band.

sarramkrop 01.16.2009 08:45 PM

i think they're shit.

Derek 01.16.2009 09:00 PM

I'd rather listen to KoRn.

GravitySlips 01.16.2009 11:31 PM

o'connor 01.16.2009 11:52 PM

StevOK 01.17.2009 01:02 AM

PAULYBEE2656 01.17.2009 06:33 AM

Then I'll be in for a treat with their other ones then hah.

atsonicpark 01.17.2009 07:20 AM

I used to love this band but I haven't listened to them in a good 3 years now. Do Dallas is a classic record, definitely. They have a surprising amounts of songs that aren't very good, but Do Dallas and the b-sides are all great; in fact, I like the b-sides/singles much more than their albums. One of my best friends went to England to be with his ex-girlfriend about.. oh... 6 years ago and managed to catch McLusky live at the time! He said it was one of the best shows ever and he brought me back a button

wothout a doubt.. do dallas is great
the difference between me and you.. is greater and mcluskyism (the 3 cd set) is unmissable greatness...

There is one thing, I can't listen to them without thinking of the simpsons, because of that one halloween episode... in the midst of all the killing and skin eating we forgot about the loving...

Great lyrics btw. "If I had to choose a woman I think I'd choose religion." I think I'll listen to them soon.

Pull up my pants
Now the camera crew has gone
In your statement to the p'lice
Tell them how you turned me on
But you were such an ugly child

Take up tai chi
Now your favourite pet has died
We had crazy fucking times

But you were such an ugly child
You were such an awkward chiiiiiild

Wipe up his mess
Pay your fluffers by the yard
How you're paying for your peace

I have McLusky Do Dallas and I fucking love it. I should probably get more of their stuff. Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues is one of my favorite openers.

greedrex 01.17.2009 05:11 PM

they're fookin' great.
they ripped off the Pixies by an dlarge though.
good for them!

greedrex 01.17.2009 05:12 PM

but i prefer Muse, really.

PAULYBEE2656 01.18.2009 06:13 AM

they also leaned greatly to the half man half biscuit rip off area as well.. i see a lot of similarities.....

Everyneurotic 01.18.2009 02:07 PM

they were kinda like the pixies meet the jesus lizard; they were just a very fun band after all.

hmhb are not that funny, mclusky were.

and i prefer macronympha to mclusky and muse.

loubarret 09.15.2009 03:00 PM

McLusky are great. One of my favorite bands since the early 90's. Ironic but also epic guitartunes.

Also future of the left is worth a try as is shooting at unarmed man(which are the two follow up bands).

TheMadcapLaughs 09.15.2009 03:21 PM

the onstage banter of the future of the left live album "last night i saved her from vampires" nearly upstages the music its so fuckin' funny. he just ruins this guy thats yellling/being annoying who also happens to be wearing a tool shirt.

atsonicpark 09.15.2009 03:25 PM

I find Future of the Left extremely dull for the most part... in fact, most of their songs are terrible, but Shooting at an Unarmed Man is surprisingly good.

loubarret 09.15.2009 03:26 PM

'Your wearing a tool t-shirt, I ain't taking you serious mate'

Or something like that. That album is great fun. I saw them live this summer, great set(even Falkous was again irritated, playing to some die-hard fans in 11.00 in the morning on a festival lined over the Ting Tings) and I think their new one is one of my favorite records this year.

Shooting splitted, the Australian line up broke up which sucks....Girls Music is one of my favorite songs of the moment now.

atsonicpark 09.15.2009 03:30 PM

That's a pretty weak comeback. Though hardcore Tool fans are generally retarded, of course.

TheFoxBen 09.15.2009 03:33 PM

Wow, you really have problems with Tool here.

atsonicpark 09.15.2009 03:34 PM

TOOL are amazing, one of the best bands ever. Infinitely better than anything McLusky or their offshoots have produced. Still, their hardcore fans are generally douchebags. Just a fact.

Nah but tools often have problems

This said I don't know what I'm doing in here since I don't like neither McLusky or Tool

you gotta hear the whole thing, he says something like "oh no dont get me wrong, i enjoy tool as much anyone that never listens to them" and something about them being "hippies with matrix costumes on" and much more other hillerious things, its all the delivery

I'm interested in this description. I'm not debating it, just curious what you mean by this. Even as someone who has liked McLusky for a good 7 years, I can't really recall any of their songs where I'd describe the guitar as "epic". In fact, some of their little one-string riffs are downright cheesy, to me.

...I will say, WITHOUT MSG I AM NOTHING is one of the best songs ever written though, for guitar. Actually, yeah, I think THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN... blah blah is really interesting, because you can almost hear the band breaking up on the record. It's such a dark, confused, confusing record. Well, except for the "SHE'LL ONLY BRING YOU HAPPINESS" song, which is embarassing.

Good band.

Tool are great on their first two albums, but please let not drag this out again or go to the tool topic.

Oh okay, I understand now, well I'm not a hardcore fan so it's cool but I just think they're one of the greatest metal bands ever.

You're just attracted to threads like these when you see my username next to them, you're thinking "What has TheFoxBen posted on that thread so I can have a good laugh and reply by doing a stupid joke about tools or mash-ups". I know you.

Oh okay. Yeah, FALCO seems like a funny dude, I don't really have any interest in a FotL live album though haha. I can't put my finger on it but I just don't really like that band very much (even though I started the official sy gossip Future of the Left thread some time back!).

yeah, i liked them alot when i first heard them but my interest sorta dwindled. i just saw them maybe like a month ago and was a little disapointed, just cause i heard mclusky was such an epic live band. i sorta wished falco would have just done stand up instead.

On Mclusky's B-Sides collection, there's a bunch of live songs, and the onstage banter is hilarious. There's a part where Falco really shreds this one heckler. I love it. Sometimes I listen to the live stuff, just to hear that part.

musefreek 09.16.2009 07:58 AM

saw this band live many times. they are defo in my top 3 live bands. simply astounding....
