Status Quo return to the popular consciousness
Right, there's been three posts about it now - aren't Status Quo awesome live? Yes, yes they are. They may have not had a decent song in 30 years (/ever, depending on preference) but they are very good live, oh yes.
Status Quo for indie losers '09 starts here. |

I had no idea Glice liked the boogie-rock.
|
Down Down is a killer tune, but I've never heard anything else by them that is as good as that one.

I'm a fun-loving guy, the Quo are a fun-lovin' band, what's to be surprised at? |
In sandwich terms they're utterly rock solid. A minimum of garnish, sensible strength cheese, proper crusts. Unspectacular but entirely dependable in terms of getting the basics absolutely right. Pret a Manger can only dream of creating anything this necessary.
|
"Sensible strength cheese"? Demonrail, that is pure uncut genius, sir.
I like the apocryphal story that Ben Dover once drummed for the Quo.... |
I know he was the lead singer with Journey. The Quo connection sounds right but is, alas, as you say, apocryphal. As are the rumours that he once played the spoons for Terminal Cheesecake.
|
![]() "'Ere mister, can we 'ave our riff back?" |
I can't believe I've never heard that Ben Dover used to drum for the Quo. I'm totally spreading that one.
|
He never did, but spread with extreme prejudice nonetheless.
The Journey bit was a joke. Seriously though, he was Keyboardist for two bands in the 80s: La Rox and Batchelor of Hearts. Then he played drums for the Ian Mitchell Band - a sort of Bay City Rollers offshoot (interesting porn connection there I suppose). |
Hmm. Less facts, more scurillous rumours please.
|
Well there's always the one about Shaggy having no cock following a landmine incident while he was in the army.
|
No? Really? You can tell, can't you?
Did you know that Rachel Stevens has webbed toes? That's an actual, bona-fide fact. |
Sounds like a conflation of that story about the porn star with a 'hoof' (which really is a bona fide troof). They actually look quite similar

Flippin hell. you're right! I just checked it on the interweb and yeaym Stevens apparently showed her webbed extremities to Jonathon Woss. Still love her though. Maybe even more now.
|
Hands off her, she's mine. Freakish feet and all.
|
twos up?
|
apparently sarah harding and cheryl cole are known for having threesomes, themselves plus one dude.
|
will smith is gay, and his wife is a lesbian.
i heard that from someone at work who was working on the set of one of his films. |
I have it on good authority that the rumours about Louis Walsh are not, in fact, rumours.
And I know someone who used to work with Cliff Richards' long-term boyfriend. |
and what are those LW rumours, exactly?

I've also heard that Method Man is gay.
|
no but seriously , are you serious?
it's okay to be gay though. i'm a tad gay myself. as in happy. |

Meth is totally gay. I've read several allusions to someone quite high-profile in jamaican dancehall being an actual gay, but no names named, disappointing. LW allegedly likes boybands on a physical rather than on a musical level. |
That Ja Rule and Redman are gay is, I've heard, something of a given within the industry.

I heard about his wife too, but not Will. |
actually i had never heard about them.
thank you sir for enlighten me about such beautiful piece of white trash. |
method man is married, but then so is will smith, and i guess meth is known for his working relationship with redman, which now i'm thinking is probably more than just that.
|
anyway, redman's episode of cribs is the best one i ever saw

I love that Matchstick Men song. I sometimes wonder if their psychedelic period is worth getting into?
(Probably not). |
i've also heard that david byrne and lou reed are both into coprophilia
|
I so wish Will Smith would knock on my door to tell me that his marriage was over and he was ready for some sexual abandon with a different type of homie.
