money money money, mo-ney... MONEY!!

I need more money. I know that I am not alone here, and I also know that there are most likely people here who once were in the same debunkle as I, and they have found ways to get out of it. My question: what are some good ways to make easy money? And no, I'm not lazy, what I mean is doing something you like for a living without needing a degree to back it up. Have you gotten a job that normally requires experience or a degree when you yourself did not have said experience or degree? How did you go about it?

And if your reply is going to be along the lines of "Sorry, but you have to have a degree to get a good job" then please don't bother, because I know that is simply not always true.

Cantankerous 09.22.2008 10:12 AM

peddle the ass that god gave you

floatingslowly 09.22.2008 10:14 AM

It's pretty easy to get well-paid work in Jersey, because the finance industry is so huge over here. To work in an £11.50 an hour job in a bank in England you at least need some A Levels (high school diploma), but over here they take anybody with mediocre GCSEs (taken at 16). It's so, so easy to land one of these jobs. If you stay all your life you rise to the top. It's actually pretty good if you need a grand or so, you just work for a couple of weeks and quit. This happens a lot actually, but no one seems to mind.

racehorse 09.22.2008 10:35 AM

Another suggestion is bookshops and record shops. They prefer knowledge over degrees, and the work is interesting - you interact with decent people and talk about what you love all day (be it literature or music)...

pbradley 09.22.2008 11:23 AM

HA, I have a degree and still can't do shit.

afterthefact 09.22.2008 11:40 AM

All great ideas, especially the record shops and book stores.

The unqualifiable arrogance was the draw.

atsonicpark 09.22.2008 04:45 PM

I've worked at ... Wal-Mart ... for 3 years but I managed to have $9,000 in the bank. There is no easy money. You have to be patient.

I made a thread like this before, though, and we all came to the conclusion that starting a noise band and releasing a 100 albums a week is probably profitable.

pbradley 09.22.2008 04:46 PM

I want to get into the stock market! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

atsonicpark 09.22.2008 04:53 PM

Haha.

I have stocks in Wal-Mart... but I think I'm gonna sell 'em real soon.

Um.

Oh, other ways I make money easily besides working at that shit hole:

- Sell cd's from my bands
- I used to do internet surveys but I don't do those anymore, but you'd be surprised how much money I made from that back when I had time to do that shit. I'd get like 10 checks in the mail a week ranging from 80 cents to $10.
- Burn movies and sell them to people for like $5. I made hundreds of dollars that way.. back when I had time to do that. It's technically illegal but oh well.
- Back when I was in high school, I burned cd's for people for money, but nowadays everyone has a CD burner. I also used to do people's essays for them. One dude paid me $30 to do this report for him. It took me a good two hours but it was worth it. I type 149 words per minute, so it was easy.
- The thing I do now is I buy and sell expensive video games online. I hit up pawn shops that are selling games for like $10 and I know the value of almost any game you can think of, if something's rare or not, you know? Just yesterday, I sold Legend of Mana (got $46), Brigandine (got $80!), and Kartia (got $21) online. I didn't pay more than $10 for any of them. I only do this about once a month but it works.

and yes, it is harder to save $9,000 when you have more than just "what nintendo game will I buy today" to worry about (surely, you know this).

just sayin'.

Yeah I do but I only work at walmart part time and I still pay half the bills here...

So, if I worked there full time and had my own place, I'd still be able to save money like I'm doing now.........

I'm very tight with my money. The only big purchases in the past few years were fixing my car up, which cost like $400, a $300 guitar, and letting my girlfriend borrow $150.

Otherwise, I'm tight as fuck. Just netflix movies and burn them or buy $0.01 vhs tapes form amazon... and when I buy cd's they're always really cheap... I'm tight.
