looks like Joe Biden is to be the Democratic Veep Nominee
been a while since any real political news of substance has arisen, but it appears while not officially announced that Sen. Joe Biden is gonna be the vice-presidential nom
Quote:
i personally think this is an amazing choice, of all of the original dem nominees, he seemed the most lively and had some of the best character issues, and someone who i like more then Obama as someone who hasn't been happy the way Obama has been straddling the center and saying the "right thing" to say, a straight shooter like Biden is a massive boost http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Biden |
I would've liked Dennis Kucinich.
|
I would've liked Kucinich or Gravel, Obama ain't wild enough for that tho.
|
I would've liked Dennis Hopper.
|
MISTAKE.
|
He's an interesting choice. The whole thing reminds me of Tony Blair's decision to appoint John Prescott as deputy Primeminister. The Times today described how Obama presented binden as "a scrappy “working-class kid” who is as at home in a bar as on Capitol Hill." Very similar to the way an image conscious Blair played up Prescot's earthiness and experience.
As it happened, despite his political experience, Prescott proved quite incapable of rising to challenge of the job. Grittiness and experience proving a poor indicator of sound judgement. I think Obama is playing a fairly risky game here, I only hope it works out for him. As a European aware of the global significance of this upcoming election, I don't like the idea of a McCain victory coming as the result of a tactical misjudgement by Obama. Certainly he could do without a scandal like this during the run-up period: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yG8buxb0lg |
a politcal thread? and !@#$%! hasn't seen it?
HE'S BEEN BLINDED!!! |
Quote:
ha ha oh hey man i was gone this weekend :D yeah biden-- we'll see how that plays out. i would have liked bill richardson. obama is 4 points behind in new mexico. he'd be ahead with richardson who is a very popular governor. but then, "a black" and "a hispanic" might have been too much for mainstream america. i'm trying to understand the rationale behind this pick. don't get me wrong, biden seems a likeable guy, it's just that, ha ha, fucking mccain already took ads where biden was saying obama has no experience etc etc. ! |
Actually that makes sense. Much of the rationale, I think, is rooted in addressing the "inexperience" thing. It's been the only strong arguement thrown around since Obama jumped in.

yeah but it was BIDEN saying it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDVUPqoowf8 |

Because New Mexico would be a big swing state? I'm seriously asking--I don't know. Personally I think Biden was an extremely wise choice. |
Quote:
yes new mexico could possibly decide the election. http://www.swop.net/2008/03/is-nm-re...-election.html no coincidence the democratic convention is in denver yo. gotta win the southwest. |

yes that is the idea. also to connect with "working class whites". people who are reluctant to vote for a black president on the basis of skin color alone. which are a lot of people. but that ad came out AFTER the veep nomination. so-- tricky you see. |
RIchardson's good, I'll give you that. But Biden--he can be an attack dog. He'll go after the bastards and let Obama look like the nice guy. It's a good, smart combo, I think.

I know nothing about Biden's positions, so I don't know if I'm actually happy about it, but I'm not fucking voting for McCain so it doesn't really matter. |
Quote:
so are you ready to vote democrat? say it. say ittttttt. |
|
The thing I like about Biden in context of this ticket is that he brings some appearance of toughness to it. A very subjective thing, but Obama "looks" tougher and stronger because of Biden on the ticket.
|
the last bit of people obama needs to sell to is white middle class women over 40 who are still sore about hillary losing.
|
Quote:
Ha ha. Um, you're talking to a Kennedy Democrat from way back in 1st grade, my friend. |
Quote:
yep, the strategy works. |
Quote:
pish pish, you were ready to vote mccain, oh you were, you hilarite. :D |
Quote:
I sure hope those people see that the answer ain't old-guy McCain!! |
Quote:
Where does Hillary support translate to McCain support? Big non sequitor in these quarters, I can tell you. |

ah man i wish i had the numbers with me i had them fresh after watching meet the press yesterday morning. lots of fun. but i've forgotten. anyway, i gotta go get lunch! |
It doesn't matter. Obama's got it wrapped up. Mark my words.
|
I've said that since he first announced he was running.
I wasn't so sure of it the whole time (the end of the primary was shakey), but I called it a long time ago. I have no doubts now. |
Hail to the fucking Chief, right on!!! So long, King George.

I have serious doubts: http://www.blackboxvoting.org/ |
I know it isn't a sure thing, but I don't have any doubts. I'm also a gambler; sure things are the only things.

according to larry sinclair:
I have been attacked, falsely arrested and falsely charged with a crime that Delaware Attorney General Joseph R. Biden III knows never happened all in the name of shutting down the TRUTH about Barack Obama’s crack cocaine use in 1999, his extra-marital affairs with me and other gay men, his long term intimate and sexual relationship with the MURDERED Donald Young, former choir director of Obama’s chuch TUCC in Chicago. The Obama thugs have had my websites shut down more than 8 times and attacked the servers causing www.larrysinclair0926.com and www.larrysinclairbarackobama.com to be shut down by startlogic one day before the DNC Convention, and they have admitted and bragged about it. |

oh, you work for mccain now-- awesome. |

well a lot of that should be glossed over in time the working class class is the ones who he may never have had in the first place, who only liked Hillary and no other democrat, and many of them have their own race issues one thing i have noticed is how Obama (and now with Biden) has been drawing more moderate republicans to their cause, some are pro-choice but others aren't, and taking away from mccain in that sense at times canceling out the hillary supporters it's interesting what i have read about people's opinions about Biden, without really having any idea who he is or his humble lifestyle (takes the train from Wilmington to DC, Trains FTW), i think as people learn more about him i think they will realize he is the anti-cheney in this respect, and really like him |
