Hangover question, peoples....
 

:confused: Which is worse for you, a wine hangover or a hangover when you drink a lotta different shit?
Just curious....I get hideously sick when I'm stupid enough to mix drinks....white russians, gin fizzes, etc. etc.

Hmmm....probaly wine most of the time, but it would also depend on what drinks I was partaking of...

Wine has no hangover for me :)

Worse when I drink a bunch of beer and liquor. I can drink a ton of glasses of like a shitty box wine and not be to bad the next day. That shit's good to have on tap;)

i can drink loads of beer, and still be pretty fine next morning.
"wine-nights" give me comfortable hangovers.
and drinking loads of mixed stuff or different drinks makes me puke next day

try drink a pint of water before going to bed, this stops any hangover i get, the trick is to remember to drink it, going to bet skuttered it can be easy to forget but when you wake up in the morning with a hoppin head, thats when its too late

it depends on the person..

if you're used to drinking wine, i'd suggest you stick to it.. in time one starts tolerating the aftermath..
mixing is dangerous, but if you can take it without getting sick and ruining your night, you'll only suffer the hang over..

personally, i get headaches from wine, especially red wine..

try to drink lots of water.. an aspirin before going to bed helps too, but if you take the aspirin before you start drinking, the booze will have a heavier effect on you..

I'm with candymoan - wine gives me a terrible headache the next day, but mostly only if I drink a cheap red.

Confession: back in the day when I used to, shall we say, drink less discerningly and in reckless quantities (which wasn't much for me, I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol), as a policy, I used to make myself throw up before I went to bed. That was the ultimate hangover prevention. Rather ghetto, but very effective.

Worse confession: most of those times, I threw up, only to allow myself to drink more.

This might sound gross, but one of the best things you can do when
you wake up with a hangover is to eat fatty fish.
Herring or Mackerel works wonders.
If you're vegetarian, greasy fries will do the job.
Drinking lots of water will help, but it takes longer.

drink water.full stop.then drink some more and then drink some more water till you realize how to drink alcohol properly

the mix is worse. when its just wine its doable. just.

i haven't got any hangover after drinking wine. in the morning is important to eat anything with a lot of minerals or fat. and try guarana sometimes:)

I used to use this method quite frequently as well. You might get a residual headache in the morning, but have either a sprite or a ginger ale and you're golden. Sometimes taking a tylenol pm after the initial throwup before bed really worked well.


we just had a slightly different saying - second part is about the same, but beginning is Beer before liquor, never been sicker. maybe a grammarian changed it to hard:)

nowadays i can barely drink anything. wine hangovers are the worst for me. maybe i can handle a liquor one because i did so much of it years ago, but wine kicks my ass. much nicer buzz from wine though.

It's all about water. And not being a woman and just getting on with things if you do have a hangover. There's no-one more annoying to hang around with when you're hungover than someone who can't even make a cup of tea without whinging about their hangover.

I will accept comical mentions of the hangover, for instance: 'I feel like I've been raped by a badger', or 'the badger has got me good today'.

It's funny how some people get religious when they have a hangover.
They keep saying:
"Please god... get me out of this hell. I will never drink again!"

worse hangovers are caused mixing drinks I think. I dont mix any drinks, and I dont mix neither two different kind of beers or wines. well after some pints of beer or glasses of wine you can drink even some spirits but just a couple are enough for me. then eating help too much to drink more but even to perk up!

I don't know if there's evidence to the contrary, although I doubt it - my guess is that hangovers are worse after mixing drinks because there's a much higher probability of drinking to excess when drinks are being mixed.

Hangovers suck!!! I mix but throw wine or champagne & I will worship the porcelain God!!! I can do beer b4 licor vice versa it doesn't matter but 2 or 3 Long Islands & I don't need more than that. When I started bartending I did all kinda drinks in one day my moms husband & I passed out shit faced, We had the all in one day, L.I. teas, Martinis, Margarita's, & closed it of with Gin & tonic. I was so shit faced!!! I hate drinking heavily & I'd rather smoke pot.

I had a 22oz the day b4 yesterday. I love NC 2nd to Guinness!!!

a good cure is those drinks athletes have that replace lost fluids and make your electrolites fire in the correct way. also sunlight is good. my hangovers last for days.

bloody mary

a nice glass pitcher
lots of ice
6 oz vodka
16oz tomato juice
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp sea salt
1tbsp worcestershire sauce
juice of 1/2 lemon? (i forget...)
fresh ground black pepper

stir & serve w/ lime wedges

eat something.

why get a cure when you can remain drunk in a pleasant way.
