Pfork poops on Thurston
Give SENSITIVE/LETHAL a 2.5 ...no surprise there, really.
|
I don't think they poop on him, what they say is very respectful regarding him, they say he's somebody great if I read well - they just don't like the album, which is their right.
|
Yeah, I know. The review is actually quite fair. The poop part was just the score. haha.
|
For some reason, I opened this thread expecting to see a dog named Pfork pooping on Thurston.
Maybe it's a sign that I need sleep. |
i found it a rather positive review considering the score
lets face it, these thurston noise albums are generally pretty shoddy im about to get killed |
Quote:
which ones have you listened to extensively and repeatedly, not just once while playing video games? |
haha. "playing video games" was the icing on the cake.

buy yrself a pair of ears:fuckyou: |
sensitive/lethal is by far one of his best "noise" albums.
maybe he should stick to playing "blaze of glory" on his odd tuned guitar to keep his fans happy. |

Don't worry, no one pretends to like everything Thurston shits out anymore. |
But also keep in mind that atsonicpark doesn't even like Sonic Youth.
|
Liar.
|
So is your face.
|
Wow, last.fm gives me a headache now.
|
huh?
|
haha ok i was only kinda killed
youre not as good as i though guys you can do better |
I liked it.
Great headphone music while you read or what not. I hate defending noise to people... its not an easy task... XD |
i did like some of it actually
i just think a lot of these releases are jerked off. like the article says though, if it helps the release of other interesting music, its worth it |
Sensitive Lethal is the best thing he's put out in years.
|

haha agreed, wtf! |
I didn't like it.
I much preferred Flipped out Bride or Last to the City |
i like sensitive/lethal, its thurston's best noise record, certainly. problem is, thurston's (and the youth's) strength is incorporating noise and guitar feedback and experimental textures into rock songs. its one of the hardest things to do is to make noise in the context of a pop format, and they do it amazingly well. but i give thurston prop's for this record, its definitley a good listen (although i havnt had many urges to pop it in), and it makes smaller noise labels (in this case, no fun) money to release killer noise records by killer noise artists. he is a full supporter of the music he loves.
|
That is a fucking acecore sig.
I agree with Necro, I rank it pretty low among Thurston's noise/experimental outings. I found the preceeding noise cassettes and flipped out bride way more enjoyable. |
well i guess that was thurston's take on Merzbow-like stuff
it's VERY abrasive it's true i can't believe people READ BOOKS while listening to this on headphones hahahaha i'r rather smoke pots really, although i don't |
Pitchfork is weird, you have the reviews that are properly written by proper journalists, and then you have reviewers who just review for controversial reasons (wow giving the Mars Volta 2.0/10 or whatever, REALLY EDGY!)
|
controversial reasons? the mars volta just suck. thats it

I listen to noise while studying and stuff too, great background music.
|
Exactly

The Mars Volta doesn't suck. They're a great band that happens to have a really cleanly produced sound. I can only speak for two of their albums, though, and a friend of mine told me not to bother with their latest record. |
yeah the mars volta are probably the worst band currently making music. I can't think of a band I despise more really. I think I might almost possibly begin to understand how people could somewhat not mind listening to them, but let me put it like this: As supposedly negative and harsh as I am in regards to music, I can tell you something I like about almost any band, even ones I totally hate.. I can at least conjure up SOMETHING... "oh, the drums are cool", you know... I can't say a single good thing about the Mars Volta.
But hey if you like em, neat. |

Hmm maybe. I don't see that many people feeling that strongly about the Mars Volta either way to be alienated by a pitchfork review but then again...
