Wall-E

What a joy of a movie. I really don't understand how one could not love it. I highly recommend you all go see it, as it's easily one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's extremely deep, minimalistic and clever. It's a rare and refreshing movie in an over saturated marketplace of generally bad films.

Please do yourselves a huge favour and check it out.

!@#$%! 06.28.2008 01:56 PM

i saw the trailer & enjoyed it

read a review the other day saying it was "too dark for disney", which is a plus.

yeah i'm gonna go see it-- but first i gotta get ironman out of the way-- i'd like an afternoon of dumb entertainment with a black sabbath sountrack please.

floatingslowly 06.28.2008 02:26 PM

I plan to take the minibot to see this tomorrow!

saw the trailer before Indiana Jones and it reminded me of home.

can't wait!

atsonicpark 06.28.2008 05:01 PM

it looks like a retarded kid's version of short circuit meets typical pixar shit meets a fucked up robotic love story. I bet it rules. That animation studio is surprisingly clever and makes movies that appeal to all ages somehow.

StevOK 06.28.2008 05:03 PM

I can't wait to go see it. He reminds me of a shrunken Johnny Five.

Edit: Adam beat me to it.

vulva 06.29.2008 04:42 PM

Yeah, Wall-E was modeled after Johnny 5. Only he's way better.

and with that, I predict a massive line of WALL-E action figures.

I plan to buy some for myself. Oh yes I do.

acousticrock87 06.29.2008 10:54 PM

I just watched it. It was extremely depressing.

Not the movie, the fact that I saw it by myself.

But the movie was good. 7/10 I guess.

jakeonguitar 06.29.2008 11:28 PM

Iron Man didn't play Black Sabbath once... what a let down.

Wall-E looks like Finding Nemo: catchy cartoons with an obscured moral.

And as a sidenote, Wanted was pretty cool but had more unbelievable fake, action movie shit than Shoot Em Up.

Actually, the moral was painfully obvious. So much so that at a couple of points I wanted to beat the writers over the head with a Bacon & Swiss Angus.

Uhh...yeah it did. At the end, when Tony exclaimed "I am Iron Man", they started playing Black Sabbath.

Everyneurotic 06.29.2008 11:51 PM

steve beat me to it.

so i'll say they also put suicidal's "institutionalized".

Absolutely. The lack of subtlety was horrific, but it was a minor blemish in my opinion. They said it all in one burst, and then small doses throughout to further the story.

I just got back from seeing it. It was the most adorable movie Pixar has done to date. The fact that these robots don't even talk (for the most part) but you can fall in love with them is really astounding. The Hello Dolly music/video and 2001: A Space Odyssey references were gold. That kind of stuff makes Pixar really top notch.

I didn't like the mixed media, of CG and the few live action clips. But other than that and the obvious message, I really loved it.

When my brother and heard that part we were all like "fuck yeah!"

According to Brad Bird, it's actually based on Judd Nelson's character from the Breakfast Club and this Johnny 5 claim is just an internet myth.

acousticrock87 06.30.2008 09:22 PM

Wall-E is actually modelled after Devo. They're in court right now.

I meant like a whole song. Or at least most of a song... half a song... okay, a verse and the chorus of a song.

Yeah. I should have reworded my post.

Movies rarely do that.

pop punk will eat itself 07.01.2008 12:31 AM

I plan on seeing it before the Ween show next week in Nashville -- I can't wait.

viewtiful_alan 07.01.2008 01:29 AM

Would you invite a potential girlfriend to Wall.e or Get Smart?

pop punk will eat itself 07.01.2008 01:31 AM

Yes, even though I haven't seen either film.

viewtiful_alan 07.01.2008 01:32 AM

It was a choice based question.

acousticrock87 07.01.2008 01:34 AM

Wall-E. Get Smart probably has some awkward moments, and a girl will most likely enjoy Wall-E regardless of taste.

vulva 07.01.2008 02:32 PM

Yes, because then she'll feel a romantic attachment to you

max 07.01.2008 05:23 PM

said the vulva.

StevOK 07.01.2008 08:03 PM

My wife and I saw Get Smart, and it's a reasonably good date movie, but I bet Wall-E would be cuter.

viewtiful_alan 07.01.2008 11:02 PM

Haha thanks everyone.

davenotdead 07.02.2008 08:12 AM

wall-e would prob be a great date movie... i loved it
