Greetings my Name is Habte Selassie!
Greetings.
Got baptized into the Ethiopian Orthodox Church yesterday morning in mystical celebration that took hours and hours. I have a new name, which I have never felt such an affinity for, my given name I never liked. When I was five in kindergarten I remember being embarrased and self-conscious when having to introduce my name to people, I never liked it. When the priest said, "Habte Selassie" I knew it was mine from Creation! Chris Naphtali is dead. Long Live Chris Naphtali. I am now Habte Selassie [produce/wealth of the trinity] |
i think you mean chris nephtali is dead, long live habte selassie (if i get the expression correctly).
but fuck, congrats man-- is it ok if i ask you to explain your name? |
Well done Habte. Cool
|
Yeah, new names are cool.
So do you get to start over with a new credit rating and everything. Or just a new slate in heaven? Is your old name up for grabs? |
Congrats.
|
When are you going to do something about that name of yours? ^
|
I already did.
|
congratulations to you!
|
Aren't there about a hundred guzillion Sellasies in Ethiopia? Aren't you gonna be fucked when you move there, when it comes to the phone book?
|
Not only that, but Habte is the Ethiopian "John."
I think your name really means "Man, the trinity screwed me over." |
John Smith, hmmmm. Did you keep the receipt? I'm thinking Hercules Rockerfella might have made things slightly easier on a bureaucratic level.
|
But God loves all John Smiths just the same.
|
He needs to, if only for their block vote.
|
assholes, dont try to ruin his good moment.
i was asking in earnest. |
Ernest?
|
hell yeah. This is good to hear. Keep up the good work.
|
Are you going to officially change it on all your documents and driving licence etc?

I would've gone for Rembrandt Q. Einstein myself. Seriously though, congrats Habte! How do you pronounce it, by the way? |
OMG what if Zombie Chris Naphtali comes back for you, Habte?!
.. But to be cereal for a moment, CONGRATULATIONS, baptism is a wonderful thing. |
Congrats. I hope you'll never grow tired of the new name.
|

That's actualy a good point. Will you have a chance for another new name at some time? |

they couldn't if they wanted to, let them have their fun, its a good time things fo sho! the pronounciation is "Ha-b-tey" "Seh-Lah-sey" Well, Habte Selassie [Ethiopian names are rarely shortened, it is really one name, the two names would be Habte Selassie Ronald [my pop's first name as my last name] is not quite like John, cuz they got that one there, and it is outrageously popular in and of itself, either as Yohannes [John] or Yonas [Jonah], but Habte is rather popular also, along with Fekere [Beloved-of] and Kebere [Honorable] |
Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side! It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance
