When Did Kim Become So Fashionable?
for along time now she's dressed pretty stunningly. big name designers, heels on stage while she plays bass and dances that awesome little dance of hers. but i wanna know when this started. was it gradual? did she just wake up one day and say "i'm gonna start wearing good looking dresses & what not. dammit i'm gonna be hot!". because, c'mon, we've all seen the way she use to dress back in the day... that shit was hideous. ball caps!? flip up sunglasses?! that shit was never attractive, especially on a woman of kims stature. so when i ask you? WHEN!!!!!!!
|
she's always dressed really really cool
like in the late 80s in that silver rocket video from night music. and in kool thing. |
see i think she looked a bit ratty and trashy back then.
|
you have no concept of what fashion really is at the heart of it.
|
maybe not... but i know what i think looks like shit and i know what i think looks good. :)
|
it's hard to tell really, i reckon around goo.
|
Yeah, from the flip top glasses to now, Kim has always had a definite fashion sense. The glossy mags may have picked up on her later on but she has always had it going on. If anything, she's less 'fashionable' now than she was back in the 80s:

yeah, she really started dressing up around the evol era, though.
|
Yeah, EVOL sounds about right. It was during the Madonna fascination, wasn't it?
Personally I thought she looked best around the time of BMR, like in the Death Valley 69 video, she looks hot with that shotgun. |
i thought (from what i could see of her) she looked pretty kewl in death valley 69 video, but I could only see 5 seconds of her.
|
The bass that she plays usually adds to whatever fashion era she went / is going through; like the Ovation in the mid-80s, the thunderbird and that white BC rich bass during the Goo era.
|
kim looks brilliant in the death valley 69 video with the shotgun
![]() those pants are the coolest ever!! i have a necklace like she had with the little stars on it |

I was looking for that picture of her when I posted the one above. That's definitely my favourite of shot of her. Sexy, cool and badass at the same time. Awesome! |
it's a rifle not a shotgun just for the record.

This may be the moment where she became a more mainstream-friendly fashion 'icon'.

That's now been turned into my desktop wallpaper. Thanks! |
this was mentioned in the youth chapter of 'our band could be your life'. azzerad talks about how kim was at first very very shy, and it showed in her stage presentations. but as their career progressed, she became more assuming and more interested in sexuality. therefore, she started dressing a helluva lot sexier around 'evol', and then just kept getting sexier.

and he got it from confusion is next the book.
--- cantanks: it is; optical illusion, same as kim's pants. which i have to say, here are some kim's hottest pics posted. well done, people! |

There goes my NRA membership. What's on her shirt in that still? I've been trying to figure it out for ages. |

now this is hot. how did she go from redneck dude to hot rock woman? |
she's always been able to fashion something out of nothing, but when the money rolled in then she could afford to get the names
it's about names darling names ![]() |
oh i see. but still, from dude to hot chick... explain. i'm dumb.
|
Some people just have a sense of fashion, and kim is one of them.

it was more fashionable to really dress more masculine at the time, and by goo she really glammed up and went full on lips and fab |
i guess that makes sense. thanks lil buddy. :)
|
you can be just as fashionable wearing thrift-store vintage shit as you can wearing marc jacobs.
|
I prefer tomboys. I must be partially gay or something.

You do live in San Francisco. |

absolutely, i'm just saying that later on she turned into somewhat a fashion icon through her work as designer and attire of name designers in the new bio, i think it was julie cafritz i think who noticed a change in her around Goo where she was becoming a much more featured and upfront member of the band, and was becoming more expressive and in her words "sexy"(not that she wasn't already, but to go from kinda frumpy to wearing leggings and dresses, it hits as a shock to those who knew her from the time) |
yeah exactly.
i like marc jacobs myself but designer shit only makes up maybe 20% of my wardrobe and the rest of it is all old mostly. kim used to be more that way too i think but now everything i see her in i recognize from this season's mj collection. |

I have seen many people wandering the bus loops in clothes like that while flailing their hands and jeering their wide eyes around sideways , face drooling , clutching a styrophone dish of chow mein .

wow this shit hurts my eyes in a nice dreamy way:eek:  |

i do like chow mein though. |
She used to have her own clothing lable in LA called X Girl.
