Paper trail/ office whingers
Right, this is probably the sort of thing that the office-y sorts are either going to sympathise with or think is ridiculous.
I'm getting increasingly annoyed with paper wastage. There's a series of processes in my office that are printed out for no ostensible reason. I work in IT. These people should understand that things don't actually go missing if they're not in print. And this isn't because I particularly care about trees - oh no - it's because I'd like higher wages, and paper wastage is cutting into my potential pay rises. Please take this opportunity to bemoan/ explain paper wastage or just have a good ole' whinge about things that annoy you where you work. |

Fuck yeah! |
I am fucking sick of it too
My law firm went to a "paperless" system, but every single thing that comes in via fax and email is instantly printed, copied multiple times, filed and bound. fucking waste, and then when the case closes it all gets disposed of and shredded. I hate ordering so much paper and toner and all that shit. |
The whole buiding where I work recycles everything, including the paper cups that we use for tea/coffee. I have a separate bin for paper and a separate one for anything else.
I'd like more blow jobs from my boss. |
they took away a lot of the bins in my office so that people would recylce more but all they do is sit around wallowing in their own rubbish like some kind of serial sex offender because they cant be bothered to walk the two metres to the nearest bin.

one guy in particular is particularly anti receyle and pro waste and sits singing the 'i dont want to change the world' line from that kirsty mccall song. what a cunt.

I don't know what you want me to do with them, but I'm sure you don't want me to do with them what I'd normally do with them. |

OMG, GAL. |

The only thing that annoys me at work is returning food. Talk about recycling.

not to mention leaving the lights on in the whole building all year round, people leaving their computer on over night/the weekend/while on holiday, having the heating on so high that you can wear only a t-shirt in december... |

ugh, that annoys me too. i actually made a remark about it to a co-worker once and what she said was: "huh, why do you care!? you don't have to pay for it, do you!?" d'oh. |

These are all things that the building of the company I work in cares about. Everything, including lights, is switched off after work. |
swell is a word i want to start using more often me thinks.
|
so what do people do with the dirty toilet paper if they can't throw it down the toilet?
|
put it in the bin, or make some kind of installation out of it.
|
installation installation!!!
|
ok boyd rice then.
|
@nefeli - what the hell, is that normal where you live?
(the bin i mean, not the installation) sorry, but eeeeeeewwww. |
everybody knows that.
people do it for the purpose of wasting time. oh, i got to print this. oh, i got to copy this. oh, this needs to be in quadruplicate. oh, i need to clip these papers. oh, i need to move these papers away. oh, i need to shred these papers. |
![]() This page of the thread reminded of this picture that someone sent me a while ago. |

Ha. The thing that amazes me about loads of offices is that there are always things that are done because they've always been done. 'Why do you print that report every morning (20 pages)'. 'That? We've always done that'. 'But why?'. 'We need to keep a hard copy'. 'Why?' 'So we have a record of it'... This extends to people doing whole jobs, whole departments and, in the case of PR, whole companies where people are paid and no-one knows what they do or why. |

i work in a PR company and there are people in my office who earn good money, come in every day, but span about 3 months work out over the course of a year. |
i could assign that statement to a lot of things and places i have been. germany was the worse for blithely following rules and red tape because as they they say, they have always done it like that and no one is going to tell them otherwise. england is a very close second.
