If you want to speak about dead drummers, I prefer John Bonham. This guy was a machine.

John Bonham was amazing but I love Moon more. His controlled chaos never ceases to amaze me.

Rob Instigator 04.25.2008 10:20 AM

his controlled chaos on pinball wizard? ha ha ha! MODS DIE!

HECKLER SPRAY 04.25.2008 10:21 AM

nobody mentioned Phil Collins ? And Rick Allen ( the one-armed guy from Def Leppard)?
That's weird.... I don't understand why nobody likes them.

RdTv 04.25.2008 10:28 AM

Out of the poll I chose Steve shelley, mainly because he doesn't interfere with the music and summons the flow of the songs.

Some of my favorites from many a genre:
Art Blakey
Sabu
Greg Saunier
John Bonham
Tim Daisy
Buddy Miles
Lenny White
Glenn Kotche
ehhh...there's more but these will suffice for now

Well. but I prefer Bonham's death. Overdose, it's too trivial.
Dying in your vomit, it's much better, no ?

Double bass drum rolls and all, I've never been too excited by Peart or Rush. Neil writes some horrible new age drivel for lyrics usually too. Technically, Peart is very good, but he's overrated ultimately to make it on my particular list, because for me, artistic creativity and purity of process counts almost as much.

Some of the music of Rush is good though. And, of course, some of their outings (Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Caress of Steel) are regarded as classic rock albums, but my favorite is probably the live Exit...Stage Left and the earlier double live 2112. I haven't listened to them in forever though.
