LA SHOW!!!

Sorry to keep harping but we need an LA SY show. Free of that filler known as Pearl Jam. I'm hoping that one of the band members or managerial staff will read this and any responses and see that a serious demand is there. I mean, I know very few SY fans who are also PJ fans. Its like we're having to see the shortened minimalized version of the band's set with PJ fans instead and that bugs. Please play a small LA venue guys. Please.

hiland 05.22.2006 11:53 PM

no kidding... im sure the smell could fit them in....or an amoeba instore....

noisemachine 05.23.2006 12:15 AM

I would love an LA show. Im actually making the treck up to Sacramento to see that show, but if they added an LA date I would go to that too considering its about 5 hours closer to me than Sacramento...
I could see them doing a daytime Amoebas show or doing KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic appearance while in town for the PJ shows, but obviously these wouldn't be as good as a real show...but Amoeba's would be better than nothing!

static-harmony 05.23.2006 12:25 AM

Hell Yeah an L.A. show will be good. we should petition them for it.

SonikJesus 05.23.2006 01:13 AM

I agree on an LA show too. Or somewhere around that area. The Glass House would rule since it is so close to me.

John Violence 05.23.2006 01:21 AM

We need SY to headline an LA show!

acousticrock87 05.23.2006 02:11 AM

Sweet pic. I'm about 20 minuntes from the Glass House. That'd be awesome. Amoeba would be good too. I'd actually like to see them at HoB; I like it there.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.23.2006 02:39 AM

i almost threw up when I saw that sonic was opening for pearl jam, and for 60 bucks at that! i'm casting my lot with radiohead

spiritbears 05.23.2006 09:28 AM

bump...lets keep this thread on top until they add a solo show

spiritbears 05.23.2006 10:15 AM

spiritbears 05.23.2006 03:34 PM

there have got to be more la fans on here...or least fans who don't want to also see pearl jam...or fans that want a smaller venue!!!!

Alex's Trip 05.23.2006 05:28 PM

I want one too. If they don't, I simply just won't see them until they do. I'm thinking about seeing the Flaming Lips at the Hollywood Bowl.

Whoa, that was here? I can't believe they were so close. I live in Pomona, man.

blots 05.23.2006 07:00 PM

Emphasis on small venue. I really don't have a problem with Pearl Jam, but I don't want to pay $60 to see Sonic Youth open for them in a big venue... The Glasshouse would be excellent, that was a great show...and much cheaper. I also live very close, but any of the small LA venues would be nice.

dust in orbit 05.23.2006 07:37 PM

YES YES YES !!!!!!!!

PLEASE COME BACK TO THE SMALLER VENUES

flophousefloozie 05.23.2006 08:11 PM

man, don't be greedy.
LA gets so many good shows, whereas in my city, Sonic Youth has only been here once- in '90. We get a few good shows, but seriously, if i lived in LA i wouldn't be complaining about it.

umjammer atomsk 05.23.2006 09:29 PM

Sonic youth has never been in my state (i don't think) and they've been to CA tons of times! And yeah, I hate PJ; that's why I'm catching them with the flaming lips, Fuck Yeah!

SubSonicPumpAction 05.23.2006 09:53 PM

COME TO L.A PLEAAAAASEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to represent the SY fans that have no internet and or do not post on this board.

come to la!

hugs
and
kissess

spiritbears 05.23.2006 10:01 PM

lots of good fans out west..... noone deserves to see them at "the forum" or Cox arena.....I don't mind that they are playin with pj.....just please do a smaller more personal venue!!!!
How can we convince them????

I've been enlightened. I've always wanted to be just like you, and now that I have seen your ways, I will stop 'complaining' about them not coming to LA.

Seriously man, we aren't complaining, we are just trying to get them to come here.

spiritbears 05.24.2006 08:40 AM

BUMP>>>>>>
Come on SY....give us a headliner in a smaller venue!!!!!!

acousticrock87 05.24.2006 09:48 AM

I suggest they sneak into the Rancho Coffee Klatch or Smart City Grinds or something and only announce it on this forum. Private concert. But that's just me...I'm not greedy or anything.

noisemachine 05.24.2006 10:40 AM

A secret show for the board members would be awesome. But really, any southern california show would be great.

spiritbears 05.24.2006 10:41 AM

How about the il corral or the smell????

ok i didn't quite understand that...? Anyway, fuck L.A., come up north

:)

spiritbears 05.24.2006 10:07 PM

nooo don't fuck la....play a regular show there please!!!!

spiritbears 05.25.2006 08:53 AM

Yeah kegmama....
I was aghast when i saw that ....so wrong!!!!!
I don't give a fuck who the band is.....sy should open for nobody!!!!!
What many don't understand is that the socal shows are the closest we are going to get in the southwest..(Arizona, NM, Cali)

silverfreepress (sdasher) 05.25.2006 12:47 PM

Opening is cool by me.

Think it. For one they're playing 3 sold out shows in San Francisco in a indoor arena.
They'll being playing for a audience that's as a whole are not there to see them. To play in front of crowds like that is challenging and challenges are good ya know.
There's gonna be kids at that show who have no idea who SY are and will love it and get down. Some will hate it and go buy beer. But exposing new minds to new sounds is a good thing, right?
Plus its bank for the band and man have you seen gas prices? Tour busses don't run on dreams my friends.
Me thinks they'll end up playing some small places here in the so cal hood, but if they don't hey road trip out east, they hit clubs there all the time time.

spiritbears 05.25.2006 03:33 PM

I can see your point silver...but i hope they didn't do that just for the cash....the kids yelling "sell-out" are starting to look sane...
SY needs to do a show in LA for THEIR fans...not PJ's....just sayin..

acousticrock87 05.25.2006 03:51 PM

Eh. For me it's just a mixture of not wanting to be in a crowd that big, where I'll end up in the back unable to see anything, and not being able to get tickets. I wouldn't even stay for PJ. It's a huge inconvenience. But I sort of agree that it's greedy compared to those who have to drive 10 hours to get to the closest venue. I think it just comes down to the fact that I really want to see them, but not as bad as those people.

noisemachine 05.25.2006 08:10 PM

Its all about demand. Obviously there is a big demand just among the board members for a Los Angeles headlining show so it could definitely be in SY's interest to do one. Im not saying that they should just do it for the money, but I think the fact that there is so much demand should be enough for them to want to do a seperate LA show.

Alex's Trip 05.25.2006 08:16 PM

That would be cool if they announced a show on the forum and forum only. Word would spread but, it would still be cool.

spiritbears 05.25.2006 10:33 PM

I just want one headline show in socal....don't care where when or why....
Please SY,,,,,,,,
