So I have to job a job...
... says my mom.
And the first step to getting a job would be to make a resume I guess, only I have no fucking clue how to do that. I've been looking at sites for help and what not, but I'm also thinking you nice people would like to give me some tips?? Yeeaaahhh? Awesome :D |
i'm getting a job soon also! have you had a job before?
|
find something you like and it won't be suffering and you'll do great and love it and get promoted & make gobs of $$ & then take the whole board on a cruise of antarctica.
well first find if you're introverted (like quiet) or extroverted (like noise & lots of people) would be my guess. then look for a job that won't crush your nerves or bore you. some people love being librarians, some people love working at busy places. if you know yourself (honestly) you'll find a good match. |
I used to baby sit every once and a while, but I was a crap baby sitter. I also cleaned someones house once, but was bad at that too haha.
Sooo this will be my first real job I guess... |
Quote:
I'm definitely not a people person I can tell you that hahah, but I don't mind noise. I want a job where I can sit at the computer hahah, chances of that happening are slim to none though. |
looks like you don't like manual labor. how about telemarketer? :P
-- ps no, actually, you could work at a library stacking books. you are what, 15? plenty of opportunities for quiet people. things that would "bore" extroverts. maybe look for work in a printing press, or a photo studio, or who knows? |
Everything you've done can be turned into a positive, that's the thing. SO instead of:
Quote:
you could say something like: I've done jobs in the past where I have worked alone, and feel that I would now like to work as part of a team. |
you gotta get a job?!? poor you...
|
Something that allows you to commute in and out of your own town is a good start.
|

I've done volunteer work in a library before :) I think I'd like to be a telemarketer, and I've seen stuff in the classified look for students to do just that so maybe... A photo studio would be cool too. |

Fuck I know eh? hahaha :D |
I feel sorry for you
*gives hug* |

It's cause my mom is mad at me for missing school or something dumb. She said, "If you're going to miss so much school, just stop going and get a job, make some money and do something." So if my resume isn't done by 6 when she gets home today I'm in shit ahahah. What parent tells their kid to drop out of school? Fuck that... |
my parents stopped supporting me with school, they don't care about my grades no more and think i'm gonna drop out of school anyways....
It's always nice to know you can count on the support of your parents... |
Quote:
Yeah I actually want to drop out, my grades are shit, but I'm trying to deal with it  |
no!!! emmah don't do it! you need atleast a fucking high school diploma! what are you thinking? just finish, you'll be happy you did.
|
Quote:
Hahahaha don't worry, I'm going too.:D |
good!! geez you scared me there for a second.
|
theres not school in summer, except for dunces
|
Quote:
The dunces don't even have to go in the summer, they can take it the next year. That's what I did, only I wont graduate with my friends unless I do an online course or something... There's like 3 or so weeks left of school, I'm so happy :D |
Looking at your folks' grammar, I fucking pray you finish high school. (Insert moronic tongue-poking emoticon here)
If this is your first job, do you really need a resume? Most entry-level jobs don't expect you to have one. I found that my favorite job as a teenager was a mindless, solitary one. I worked nights during break at this armored car service - we would count all the cash that came in from the ATMSs and return the totals to the banks. It was blissful - I got to wear my pajamas to work and listen to headphones the entire time, and never speak to a single soul. But if you get a job at McDonald's, I ask you kindly not to spit in my coffee or urinate on any cooking apparatus. |

And now a days it's not fucking easy to find a job... My fellow belgian: don't drop out! The future is still bright enough !!! Cheers, Flippen |
tips:
fastfood usually always hire. Get an application and give family phone numbers for references. wait. work. Its easy for me to find work because I prefer manual labor, being a grunt worker. Its decent money and the day goes by fast. Plus its good for exorcise. |
Quote:
You're right, I don't think I really need a resume. Most places just have a little form you fill out... I want to work for an armored car service, if I could handle being around all that money :) |
id like to work at a sperm bank and walk into the romes just before they're done!
|
Quote:
Hahah I'll work at a coffee place but not a fast food place, I'm not touching nasty meat. If I wanted to touch it I'd eat it... |
ooh you should work at starbucks! they pay really really well. and plus you'll get to learn how to make awesome coffee and share the recipes with us!!
|
ha hah. hey emmah i didn't mean to call YOU a dunce :D
anyway best wishes with your search. i hope you find a good match for your temperament & skills. |
Quote:
I'll so try to get a job there! They make good cookies ... |
Quote:
Hahah thanks :D |
yeah they basically hire anybody there. there are some people i remember from high school that were fucking idiots and i thought they would never be able to get a job cause i didn't think anyone in their right mind would hire them. so if they can get a job there is hope for us all.
|
i just had a job interview at subway, pretty sure i nailed it.
i submitted a resume for a job working at the school district as a computer tech. hopefully ill work both during the summer |
do a basic resume on msword they have templates which are already set up all you have to do is type over the old info. It's really simple, just click over it & type.
|
no, go up there with a nice smile, a good handshake, and say "hi, im in highschool and im looking for a summer job". you're not applying for any position requiring qualifications, so your personal demeanor will count a lot more. to make a resume where you claim job experience as "infantile care technician" is kind of laughable. but making a list of your previous experiences, including volunteer work, is not bad at all. and on the subject of working at starfucks, sure it's nice cookies, they have great pay & benefits & college scholarships, etc, but it could be hectic and nerve-wracking for introverted, quiet types.

What do you do Lilly? |

Yeah I think I'd freak out if someone yelled at me about fucking up their coffee hahaha. Thanks Disgruntled Youth & Bunbury :) |

Hahah that sounds awesome :D |
I don't have to get a job, but I really want to get a job. Aside from being constantly broke, I can't bear another summer sitting on my ass waiting for the day to end.
I'll probably go to the public library and see if they need any help. That's the only job in my town that really appeals to me. I couldn't stand working a fast food place. |
I want to work at Barnes and Nobel, but I'm only 15. I don't need a job yet though...I think I might go out to be one of those people that wave the signs for model homes.
