How does your hometown look like?

Mine is plasticky concrete, blocks upon blocks of it, sretching everywhere the eye can see. Trees, sporadically planted, arranged in neat rows, pruned every once in a while, by the town council. Lots of sunlight, I live on the equator. Stories of concrete everywhere basically.

Inhuman 05.17.2006 11:38 PM

Mine focuses in the art of benches. We fund all our extra money in buying artistic looking benches haha. I live right by ottawa, so I'm ususally there.

i live in a bland housing development. every house is tan and rectangular. every house is built around about 5 designs (the one caddycorner to mine has the same exact floorplan, but reversed). and there are almost no trees. that pisses me off. the neighborhood just a few blocks over has huge trees, loads of them, but i have none.

alyasa 05.18.2006 12:34 AM

Wow, beautiful trees, Kegmama.

Middle-class suburban scene with strip malls etc. Middle-aged drunk mechanic guys who have to ride bikes since they lost their licences to DWIs years ago.

Heartbeat village. Full of old people. Not very fun.

screamingskull 05.18.2006 03:49 AM

sutton coldfield is just a town (a suburb of Birmingham) built around a huge park. its something like 34,000 acres.

Slavo's hometown's architechture is soo European, so cobbled streets. It looks like a scene from Half Life 2.

candymoan 05.18.2006 07:29 AM

half of the city is in asia, and the rest is in europe.. in between the continents, bosphorus..

and crossing continents are two bridges..

and this is the district i live in - the european side..

and one postcard like structure..

these are the pretty things, but the city is plagued by overpopulation, constant traffic jams due to poor infrastructure, and a decline in the quality of life..

fishmonkey 05.18.2006 08:15 AM

aww wow, candymoan, where you live looks really nice, yours too slavo.

candymoan 05.18.2006 08:19 AM

thanks, fishmonkey..

i love the irish countryside though.. i lived in dublin for about 2 years, and i travelled south to cork and new ross.. beautiful..
i quite like the culture as well...

thanks! i love ireland too, i do get a little itchy in the country though, its nice and all but i get bored real quick! i'm a real "towny" at heart and love the hussle and bussle of a city. I love Cork, the people are so nice, they actually go out of their way to help you. why some people even call it the "real capital"

candymoan 05.18.2006 08:30 AM

that's what i mean when i say i like the irish culture..
when you get bored, you can always head to the pub, and end up getting drunk with a lot of new found friends...

thewall91 05.18.2006 10:25 AM

by "hometown" i think of where i grew up, not where i live now. it's pretty funny, there's a "live web cam" of main street in my hometown on the town newspaper's website. it's not really live, but for a good laugh, check it out:

More like "concrete, concrete everywhere, nor any drop to drink" to make the correct allusion.;)

Iain 05.18.2006 11:09 AM

Slavo, where do you live? I forget, sorry.

Anyway, the second picture looks really nice...Similar to Krakow to my eyes and that is a super nice place.

Iain 05.18.2006 11:17 AM

As pictured above
