My house is getting scouted for a movie today

And I have to watch my parents antique shop :( the producer and the director are gonna be there.

The movie is in IMDB and is going to star a really famous actor, but I don't want to say to much or I'll jinx it.

But I'm really excited, our house has got scouted twice before, once by a local Pittsburgh film initiative that was asked by Disney to look for a house to do some crappy movie that I have not heard since about, and another time by a local director who moved to LA and is trying to be a big shot but can't find any producers.

But this seems like the real deal, the location manager came out about a month ago with an assistant producer, and now the director and another producer are coming out.

:D

Imagine Ben Affleck being the really famous actor, what a bummer that would be!

nicfit 01.07.2008 01:50 PM

Will you get girls for that :D?
ha ha jokes aside, everytime I saw pics of you with that (your?) strange room in the backround I always thought you must have an interesting house.

haha, hes no Damon, that's for sure.

get everything signed in writing in advance - don't trust any hollywood pigs with any handshake deals - and make sure they have insurance for all the damage they WILL do to your home and then just walk away from. This is from friends' experience. That episode of the Simpsons isn't too far off.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 01.07.2008 02:28 PM

No, not Matt Damon. Someone more respected than those guys. More of the "leading man in his 40's that women die over for some reason" sort of actor.

Some of the pictures of me are not in my house, some of them (like my avatar) are from the antique shop.

I'm a stereotypical basement dweller. We've got stone walls down here in every room except for mine, which was renovated in the 80's to be a rec room, later my brother's room, later a rec room, later an office, later a rec room, now my room since I like to be centralized with all my stuff in one room.

My house is a late Victorian built by a rich western PA oil guy in the late 1890's to be a summer house for his family of 10-12. There are 5 rooms on the first floor, all 20x18 feet, with about 12 or 13 foot ceilings. There are 2 parlors, with a huge arched sliding door connecting them. The 2nd floor also has 5 rooms, and the 3rd floor and basement are slightly different. The 3rd floor has one main room then 3 side rooms. One of the side rooms has a large vat in it that water used to be pumped into via a windmill that used to stand right beside the house. That was how they got water pressure.

Sort of a one of a kind house.

Oh of course. My parents are holding their breath until they see a contract, you know?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 01.07.2008 02:35 PM

Here's a picture of my house from an old show e-flyer I made for one of the several basement shows I had in 2006. (I completely forgot I was going to record an album named Man and Science.) I made 5 bucks off that show. I'm too nice of a guy, not giving a shit if anyone paid.

Kina 01.07.2008 03:30 PM

I can't see much from that photo but it seems like a nice design

✌➬ 01.07.2008 03:39 PM

Maybe a horror flick?

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 01.07.2008 03:46 PM

Amity Ville Horror

Not quite a horror film, although I think the intent would be to use my house for a suspenseful scene. If my parents get the contract I'll tell you guys what the movie is about, as long as it isn't against the contract ;)

nicfit 01.07.2008 04:55 PM

if you see people with axes make sure you'll get new doors as part of the contract.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 01.07.2008 05:00 PM

Of course. I don't think my parents would sign a contract if it didn't have a clause guaranteeing that anything they change would have to be made normal after.

I bet if they wanted to break a door with an axe they'd have a few prop doors made and fitted in place of the real door. If I'm a director I want the door to break just the right way. Plus I wouldn't want to destroy a real victorian woodwork.

flophousefloozie 01.07.2008 10:21 PM

Alright, is it George Clooney? I think he's in his 50's though.
Maybe Pitt...

Long live MSpaint. Your house looks all haunted and whatnot.

Norma J 01.07.2008 10:52 PM

Wow, you might get to bum Brad pitt?

Either way, this is pretty cool shit, man.

using the term actor loosely

EMMAh 01.07.2008 11:06 PM

If it's fucking Johnny Depp I'm coming to visit you.

EMMAh 01.07.2008 11:07 PM

Are you getting money for this?

ALIEN ANAL 01.07.2008 11:12 PM

leave your scripts lying around
and have your bands music playing whilst they come in :P
any paintings you have done...hang them :P

gmku 01.08.2008 12:24 AM

David Duchovny called me up today to ask if I would be his stand-in during next season's taping of Californication. Sure, I said, I'm not doing anything else. Cool, he said, bring the beer.

My parents would get money for each day of shooting if it happens, yes.

Alien Anal- I like the way you think. There is actually a ton of art by my sisters in my house. I'll have to take some pics of the good ones sometime and show you guys.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 01.10.2008 11:19 PM

They came over today again, about 12 people, including the lead producer. He's a really nice guy, and he likes my mom's porcelain collection.

The director's a really cool guy. I didn't get much of a chance to talk to the other people, but they were all really nice.

They're going to talk contract with my Dad next week.

I'm totally jazzed.

I'm pretty sure they'll be no movie star or musician that I could not get to in a game of 6 degrees of separation. :)

flophousefloozie 01.10.2008 11:45 PM

Won't the "famous mystery guy" be in it?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 01.11.2008 12:00 AM

Yeah, but he wasn't there.

flophousefloozie 01.11.2008 12:03 AM

Patience...

Norma J 01.11.2008 12:04 AM

It all sounds very exciting.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 01.11.2008 12:24 AM

Yeah, it is very exciting. I'm totally jazzed. That says a lot.
