Growing up with good music, I want to see where he is heading.

val-holla-ing 12.16.2007 03:32 PM

i'll have to check him out when i get home from work.

avantgarde1 12.16.2007 06:39 PM

doesn't he play the flute or soemthing on some SY release, i'm thinking it was the goodbye 20th century lp.

Everyneurotic 12.16.2007 11:21 PM

don't know his music, but he's a really cool guy.

atsonicpark 12.16.2007 11:31 PM

Daddy Never Caredddddddddd.

Magic Wheel Memory 12.17.2007 12:13 AM

I just checked out his music on his MySpace page, and it's actually really good. I especially like Beating You Up 4. What's cool is that he's doing his own thing and not just trying to sound like SY.

nicfit 12.17.2007 03:29 AM

i like the myspace stuff.

_slavo_ 12.17.2007 03:39 AM

That Little Boy Blue looks AMAZING ! Anyone have experience with that thingy?

andrei 12.17.2007 04:04 AM

Two reviews by Cody Ranaldo (i think it him) on Amazon.com:

Bal 12.18.2007 12:27 PM

how old is he?

beating you up n4 kinda reminds me on thurstons and nels clines pillow wand.
it has a similiar vibe to it

val-holla-ing 12.18.2007 05:40 PM

i went back and listened, and he's quite a talented kid. pretty good shit.

Exactly my thoughts. Curt Kirkwood's son's music is atrocious, and I daresay it's because he's trying to immitate his father, which should not and could not be done.

Dead-Air 12.18.2007 10:30 PM

Thanks Moshe! That shit was pretty cool.

adjectives-ex 12.19.2007 12:46 PM

the mp3 of Cody using Lee's LBB- awesome. i'm playing it through stereo speakers when my friends get done recording.

s.

jean-nicolas 12.21.2007 07:15 AM

He played flute on one of the song from Lee's dirty windows record.

avantgarde1 12.21.2007 02:53 PM

that's where it was from! i knew he played flute on something, good lookin out dude.

don't forget The Stinkypuffs.

Artist: RANALDO, CODY
Title: Beating You Up
Format: Cass
Label: Western Unconscious
Country: USA

"Ranaldo here offers what we believe is his first available recording.
Side A is a hypnotic exposition of a single eastern-tinged theme,
delivered on a guitar whose beautiful open tuning clearly reveals his
lineage. Side B is a foray into unexpected territory: damaged synth and
drum machine with swirling feedback loops, just shy of confrontational.
Ranaldo wisely presents his tape like the two sides of a coin; treasure
hunters take note. Edition of 100."

k-krack 01.01.2008 05:08 PM

way to go, cod.
about time you got back up on a stage again.

nicfit 01.15.2008 04:38 PM

Niiice.
Today I got the "beating you up" cassette (fastest usa->italy shipping ever, sent on january 4th). Still have to listen to it, but I loved the tracks on myspace.
Will the new tape be released by some label or is it a "live show giveaway" thing? I'd like to get one.
Oh, this may sound pretty weird, but "welcome to the board", ha ha.
Keep up the good work.

Lessbones 01.16.2008 12:02 AM

the new tape will be also on this label Western Unconscious and i am trying to sell them for $5 but i'll probably take anything you got (wristwatches, shoe horns, money bills)

sonicl 01.16.2008 03:40 AM

You'd think he'd post on the "introduce yourself" thread first, wouldn't you?

I bought a copy of the new tape, and it's excellent. Totally different to "Beating You Up", but equally brilliant.

nicfit 02.13.2008 05:01 PM

thanks for the "review"/reminder sonicl! just emailed him.

nicfit 03.11.2008 10:47 AM

Today I got the 2nd tape, really nice listen!

beating you up 4 is really good

blunderbuss 11.13.2008 07:27 AM

I've just got a new car, and the in-car entertainment is old school radio cassette, no CD, so tapes has been my music for the last couple of weeks. This morning's sounds were Cody's two tapes, and they sounded fantastic. I wish he'd get his ass in gear and record another one.

Kosako 11.13.2008 08:32 AM

I have him as a myspace friend for quite sometimes now. His music is interesting. Maybe in the future he could make a duet like The Carpenters with Coco, but all about noise.

greedrex 11.13.2008 08:55 AM

^^^would be called COCOCODY
