mark e smith though an interesting character is one of the biggest whiners and complainers of the scene, its unfortunate. i like some of the fall stuff but their catalog, though quite large is quite inconsistent... some of it is great, and some of it is just really shitty.

They are different bands, and both great with their flaws and all, so I don't see what comparing back catalogues or attitudes can really bring to anyone. It's a fact that Mark E Smith likes shooting his mouth off on a regular basis, but then that's not exactly going to change the way the fans of a certain band are going to give their loyalty to them. He also slagged off Kurt Cobain and called him and Courtney Love white American trash with too much money or something similar. I put it down more to a certain Mancunian way of saying stuff than anything. Even though I love The Fall, I still love Nirvana and Sonic Youth too, so, whatever, Mark.

Seriously... the thread was called like "Mark E Smith slags off Sonic Youth again" I believe. WE DID THIS ALREADY!

Anyway, I've been on their forum before, and it is fucking boring. The people there have worse taste than some of the people on here (in everything: music, movies, etc...). Also, everyone there seems to think "the infotainment scam" was brilliant. So, that shows where their heads are at. Everyone that posts there is a lifeless dullard. Don't mind the colors though.

For the record, The Fall > Sonic Youth ... Sonic Youth message board > The Fall message board.
