Unemployment

i just found out that the magazine i was working at is going to close and that means i won't be working anymore.

i'm not sad or anything, although i did enjoyed it a lot, but i'm more like weirded out.

just wanted to share this with you...hell!! some of you even helped me out, so you deserve recognition!!! (tokolosh, nic fit and everyone who helped me with pictures, scott slimm for putting out amazing shit i kept reviewing, everyone at the yahoo group for sharing records. you guys are awesome).

SynthethicalY 11.27.2007 01:57 AM

That sucks man, but you can use it for experience, when you get to the big magazines. You know People en Español.

Tokolosh 11.27.2007 03:49 AM

After reading your articles on Kim Gordon and Mujeres en el Noise,
I'm sure there are other magazines who would gladly have you write for them. ;)
Happy job-hunting.

_slavo_ 11.27.2007 04:07 AM

I cross my fingers for ya, Everyneurotic :)

█████████ 11.27.2007 05:38 AM

nice to know that some people from here helped you out.

atsonicpark 11.27.2007 05:45 AM

Fuck I'm sorry dude.

!@#$%! 11.27.2007 05:56 AM

sorry man, that totally sucks, but you're good, you're really good, so see this as an opportunity to move on & do better. something good will happen now. cheers.

sarramkrop 11.27.2007 06:12 AM

I hope that everything goes well for you, Marcos.

gualbert 11.27.2007 09:23 AM

Unemployment isn't great , but working is much worse.

nicfit 11.27.2007 09:52 AM

consider this post as a sum of the above posts.
I wish you all the best Marcos!
Think positive, like !@#$%! said.

Savage Clone 11.27.2007 10:02 AM

Sorry to hear you lost such a cool job.
Good luck with whatever comes next.

Everyneurotic 11.27.2007 11:18 AM

thank you all guys!!!! means a lot!

the thing about this magazine is that let me get away with so much, i got to review stuff that other magazines wouldn't even touch, like fucking lasse marhaug, pita and kousokuya, among many others.

but yeah, i'm more weirded out than anything and i'll look for another job in january...those bastards still owe me money.

thanks again guys.

Rob Instigator 11.27.2007 11:38 AM

best of luck my man. if you ever need an illustrator let me know!

HaydenAsche 11.28.2007 09:01 AM

Sorry, dude. Good luck!

Phlegmscope 11.28.2007 10:24 AM

Unemployment tends to fuck up yr motivation to do anything, but I'm not sure if that's any worse than being under the burden of work.

As a graphic design student my prospects of finding a job aren't so great, seeing how I am not Brody, Sagmeister or fucking Garamond.

floatingslowly 11.28.2007 12:53 PM

feliz navidad!

that sucks.

krastian 11.28.2007 09:02 PM

It's def. a bummer, but hopefully you can use all your experience to help find an even better job or at least your experience should help with getting some new freelancing gigs.

Everyneurotic 11.29.2007 09:08 PM

Everyneurotic 11.29.2007 09:34 PM

Jesus Camp

Jesus Camp follows several young children as they prepare to attend a summer camp where the kids will get their daily dose of evangelical Christianity. Becky Fischer works at the camp, which is named Kids on Fire. Through interviews with Fischer, the children, and others, Jesus Camp illustrates the unswerving belief of the faithful. A housewife and homeschooling mother tells her son that creationism has all the answers. Footage from inside the camp shows young children weeping and wailing as they promise to stop their sinning. Child after child is driven to tears. Juxtapose these scenes with clips from a more moderate Christian radio host (who is appalled by such tactics), and Jesus Camp seems to pose a clear question: are these children being brainwashed?

EMMAh 11.29.2007 10:48 PM

Yeah I gave my two weeks notice at the photo place, my last shift is tomorrow.
I just need to get away from that place, too fucking sick of dreading going to work. I need a photo place that's not so damn lame and gives me some more dough. For all the shit I'd do there, 8.30 an hour is fucking dung.
