Nintendo Wii stealing show at E3
 

I'm making this topic for anyone who cares about the nintendo Wii.

From what I've seen, all of the games look fucking AMAZING. Especially Red Steel, Metroid Prime 3, Sonic, zelda, and Super Mario Galaxy which is the new Mario game, and it's not mario sunshine thank god. Mario Galaxy looks REALLY amazing visually, awesome fluid " dreamcast like " graphics. Of course it has the little annoying noises that mario makes ever since Mario 64 but eh. Red steel looks crazy, I saw footage of a guy using the remote to have a swordfight with another guy and he slashes the guys leg and the guy falls to his knees, and the guy playing the game rests the sword on the guys neck as he's begging for his life, CRAZY.

Now I know why they were so secretive about the system, they never should have announced the motion sensitive controller cause now PS3 is like LOOK, we made a new controller and it's motion sensitive.

The thing that's confusing the hell out of me though is the Wii's new controller







I read something that says this might not work with Wii games, that it only works playing the nes, snes, 64, TG16 games which would SUCK ass. They weren't clear about what games specifically it would work with which makes me nervous. Anyways, this is definately the system I'm spending my money on this year.

Thank God they're having a normal controller.

Edit: Wait that controller might not work for the other games? Are they insane? I know I'm not trying to play a video game with a tv remote.

and WHO CARES what it's called for frigs sake. No one was saying this back in the days of the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 etc. There was the Nintendo 64, now there's the Nintendo Wii. I for one am pumped as hell about it. Even though I love nintendo, I don't always praise them. I thought the DS was du mb as hell but I think they realised what they did and the Wii is going to kick ass.

did you see the video for the line of people waiting to play the Wii ar E3? fuckin hell, would not want to be at the back of that. i think the Wii is actually gonna be good, i thought the controller was a bit silly at first and then i though the new name was a total joke, but i suppose whats in a name? its all about the games.
PS3 will kick its ass though, and i would be inclined to buy playstation first

I think the remote controller is going to be cool...Nintendo is the only company really innovating and revolutionizing the gaming world.

I just saw the new super smas. bros. video and it looks really cool. You can play as solid snakes for MGS in it. The trailer was very funny, check it out!

i always wanted a 3DO, my friend had one and I thoght they were the future of video games. I remember the first time he was playing it, it was a golf game and to me back then the character looked like a real golfer on tv, it probably didn't look anything like that.

The reason the Wii will be better than the PS3 is because the Wii is going to have better games and it's going to cost $300 less. I'd say Nintendo kicks it's ass. So the PS3 has slightly better graphics big deal, and I stress slightly, I've seen in game videos of games from both machines, the Wii and the 360 use the same chip but yeah the PS3 has some new spaceage graphics chip that slightly outdoes the Wii and the 360. It doesn't matter though because the Wii is gonna have amazing games, and the PS3 and XBOX are gonna get stuck with every crappy movie licence game imaginable and tons of terrible american made action games and World war II sims and stupid strategic millitary tactical counterstrike clones that have been coming out for like 5 years. Booooring. I know there's a 'few' good american developers, but the Japanese ones make the coolest games. Plus Sony ripped off the Wii's controller idea. They're gimps. Yeah the PS3 will be good if you wanna play Killzone 2!! God of war 2!!! Medal of honor 4, Grand theft auto 12 or splinter cell 20. Or like Scarface the game or whatever other BOOORING ass games they pull out of their asses.

The funniest part is nintendo didn't have any problem showing off all their games and showing in-game movies, but PS3 and XBOX 360 didn't show any in-game footage, Just cutscenes and prerendered CG movies. No wonder the Nintendo was the biggest attraction.

Anyways I used to have a 3DO. I remember seeing people playing the N64 when it came out and thinking the graphics were terrible and blurry compared to the 3DO which I'd had for like I think a year or two before the N64 came out. That was the only downside to the N64, it had some really fun games but the graphics were blurry and unrecognizable. Think of how much better it would have been if it was CD based.

I guess nintendo revolution was just the code name. Remember when the gamecube was known as the nintendo dolphin?

ps3 is really looking under whelming to me, sony is trying to saturate the blu-ray onto the market, while most people can't fucking afford to go hi def for a few more years, it was smart for nintendo not to go that route now, technology is moving far too fast for most people and only the really rich can keep pace, the 360 is in a similar situation, but they have a much better catalog then sony right now, just wish i could figure out the fucking controller, i feel like i am gonna have a carpal tunnel meltdown with all the joysticks when i was playing call of duty in store

but nintendo is focusing in the right direction, making it a more interactive experience then ever before

The controll looks so awsome, I don't get why a bunch of people rag on it, especially since they've never played it.

I finished my school's 9 week keyboarding class in 3 days. I type like 120 words at my slowest.

I type pretty average. My right hand needs some work, I only use my index finger. It is a bad habit. I keep trying to break it. My left hand is great though.

I'm completely twacked on coffee right now so I'm probably typing way way way faster than I usually would.

Last year when I took a typing test I got like 70 words a minute. I'm sure that'll improve.

70 is pretty good acually. thats about what im at, its average i think.

im starting to take interest in the wii, despite the name. they defiantly are really original, coming out with real GAMES not just simulations and couterstrike clones. i do think the other consoles focus to much on graphics at the price of lame games (coincidently, they have amazing graphics)

to sum it up, id take an AMAZING text based game anyday over a glossy overpriced high graphic shit game.

Totally. One thing I thought was funny was how many of SY fans were so against the remote controller. I would have thought they'd have been more open to it. But I think things are turning around. In the old board there was a lot of hate for it. Not so much now.

In all game magazines Nintendo 64 was code named " Ultra 64 " until it came out. The gamecube was the Nintendo Dolphin. And lots of the games they gradually announced had different titles in the magazines too. Same goes today I guess.

People rag on it cause they just remember how the gamecube turned out to be more aimed towards little kids.

i think it will be cool for some games, but saying its the only controller is pretty lame and really puts developers in a corner as far as what they can do. so hopefully they have some sort of expansion or peripherial that will act as a traditional controller, which i guess is what eyeball posted on the last page, but he said it may only work with the classic games which will be inheritly LAME

I think I heard somewhere that the remote controller can be turned sideways and be used that way...don't take my word for it though.

I'm excited for sonic, zelda, metroid, mario and all those. But I'm really excited for the Flight Sims and red steel

If they come out with Nights then I might consider buying it.....I'm personally not really feeling it right now.

The controller is gonna be awesome because Not all games will use the remote, and some will be optional. Nintendo knows not everyone is gonna want to use it and that's why they made the snes looking pad. Lots of the new games, specifically platformers, will use that. It's gonna be awesome. There'll be awesome games that use the remote like Red Steel, sonic, metroid etc, and other ones that use the classic controller. It's gonna be all kinds of awesome stuff at once

XBOX = NO GOOD GAMES.
PS2 = Good games from the ps1 era and maybe 2 or 3 from the new era.

Gamecube had about 8 BRILLIANT games.

I have had may game systems, but xbox gave me the most crap, a lot of time it would take forever to read games, and I would have to open and close it a whole bunch of times to get it to work. Out of frustration my brother threw his shoe at it and it stoped working, piece of crap!
