ZEROpumpkins 11.15.2007 08:00 AM

They should do Don't Look Back with Loveless.

auto-aim 11.15.2007 08:03 AM

do you guys think the london show will sell out?

h8kurdt 11.15.2007 08:05 AM

Certainly. I'm getting them at 9 tomorrow just to be safe.

pbradley 11.15.2007 08:08 AM

Lucky Limeys.

auto-aim 11.15.2007 08:13 AM

Yeah - i was just worried about my own cash flow.. but if anything is worth going into debt for is this. I just hope i can hold out til i get paid.

sonicl 11.15.2007 08:24 AM

If ATP could persuade Loop to reform, then I'd get excited. Very very excited. But I'm really not all that fussed about MBV.

But anyway, sonicl's advice: get your tickets from the Roundhouse website: http://www.roundhouse.org.uk.
No booking fees, and very little postage.

PAULYBEE2656 11.15.2007 09:56 AM

I don't think MBV can do much other than look back, can they? I mean, even the "new" album is made up of old stuff.

MellySingsDoom 11.15.2007 10:02 AM

sonicl - I honestly can't imagine a Loop reunion ever occuring, as I feel that none of the members involved would want to revisit that stuff again. Very much with you too re. MBV - a group very much of their era, and seeing that at least one member (Debbie Goodge) wants nothing to do with any re-union, and Colm O'Ciosoig currently resides in San Francisco working with various new-folk/anti-folk types, isn't ithe "re-union" just going to be little more than K Shields and his merry hired hands?

PAULYBEE2656 11.15.2007 10:03 AM

fuck it... does it really matter? its a my bloody valentine gig, one of the things i thought id never have the chance to see in my life!

seemingly the electric picnic date is also officially happening although its very early for them to announce anything!

PAULYBEE2656 11.15.2007 10:03 AM

a pavement dont look back for slanted and enchanted! now theres something to wish for now!

sonicl 11.15.2007 10:04 AM

(To Melly) Oh yeah, I agree with you re. the Loop thing. But a guy can have his dreams, can't he? :):)

MellySingsDoom 11.15.2007 10:06 AM

sonicl 11.15.2007 10:08 AM

I'd be reasonably satisfied with Robert Hampson doing something in a rock vein, actually.

Digressing a bit. I'm thinking to get tickets for that at the end of the month. It's my birthday around that time so i'm trying to coerse some friends into it if i can. How quick do they sell out these ATP festivals?

batreleaser 11.15.2007 10:19 AM

how did explosios in the shy get chosen to curate an atp?? i dont understand some of these curators; mars volta, eits, pitchfork????

sonicl 11.15.2007 10:22 AM

You've just inspired a thread, batreleaser...

SYRFox 11.15.2007 11:57 AM

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH THIS IS TOO GOOD! We live in a great era *can't stop crying* I hope they'll come to France!

StevOK 11.15.2007 12:16 PM

Cantankerous 11.15.2007 05:12 PM

atsonicpark 11.15.2007 05:31 PM

the ikara cult 11.15.2007 05:36 PM

Im debating going to this thingy... im not a huge MBV fan - i subscribe to the Isnt Anything school, possibly because i dont have an electric guitar. I'll have to decide soon i suppose.

Oh yeah - what SonicL said, go to the Roundhouse website, if i had idve saved about 2 or 3 quid and i only got one ticket (for the DDN gig).

atsonicpark 11.15.2007 05:42 PM

yeah, isn't anything is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. it actually sounds like an amazing experimental rock band! feed me with your kiss is the best grunge song ever! listen to it, it's fucking grunge! loveless is great and certainly better from an "influential" standpoint, only because they managed to create these amazing songs of tons of guitars without it sounding like pure noise. i think loveless, though, is a PRIME candidate for an album that needs remastering: the drums sound TERRIBLE (tinniest drum sound next to a fucknig black metal album) and most of the songs are a bit too ... i mean, the layers are there, but it's all kind of just sitting there, not doing anything. loveliescrushing bested mbv at their own game in that department and with only a 4 track!

just my opinion, i know no one else agrees, but... loveless is a good ambient soundtrack to college couples making out (if you can find a stereo that will make the volume go up enough; it's a pretty quiet album), but isn't anything will make you laugh, cry, and rock at the same time.

atsonicpark 11.15.2007 05:51 PM

you know what'd be great? swervedriver/mbv tour.......... opening for polvo.

Cantankerous 11.15.2007 05:53 PM

i do prefer isn't anything or the you made me realise EP (ymmr is the greatest song ever)

atsonicpark 11.15.2007 05:59 PM

actually, yeah, i almost always prefer ep's to full lengths anyway.

the ikara cult 11.15.2007 06:19 PM

Loveless has its moments, but ive always felt its overrated.
Maybe i havent had enough ambient college makeouts.

racehorse 11.15.2007 07:29 PM

i love the EPs just as much as i love loveless (hm). geek and tremolo are especially outstanding.

atsonicpark 11.15.2007 11:34 PM

Loveless is by far and away the best album cover ever though.

atsonicpark 11.15.2007 11:34 PM

...anyone know where I can get a poster of that?

h8kurdt 11.16.2007 04:44 AM

Balst. Sold out.

sonicl 11.16.2007 05:02 AM

auto-aim 11.16.2007 05:02 AM
