new radiohead album out on 10th of nov, for as much as you want to pay 4 it
im not a big fan or anything (in fact thom yorke kinda pisses me off with his crazy looks) but theyre releasing a new album, called 'in rainbows'.
first in digital format (mp3s that is) wich you can download from here and you only pay for it as much as you would like to (according to some articles you can buy it for half pound). thats pretty cool. i might buy it. and theyll be selling it in a big package as well, wich has the cd version, double vinyl version and some artwork in it - thats for 40 GBP. i think jonny (or whoever it is) just posted this on some blog not long ago. it seems to be true just check www.inrainbows.com |
crazy guys. 40£ eh....damn.
|
I heard this was a joke, that the album would in fact be released on March 2008... ???
|
Gigantic lying Radiohead
Radiohead were the victims of a hoax at the weekend, with a website about their album linking to a Rick Astley video. Fans began speculating last week that radioheadlp7.com would have information about their new album, rumoured to be out on March 24 next year. But a countdown on the site that ended on Saturday said it was "the most gigantic lying hoax of all time" and linked to Never Gonna Give You Up. http://www.teletext.co.uk |
In the words of cs_sn1p3r94, Rick Roll'd!
|
Dunno, if that's really a "joke" but with people gaining money "exploiting" radiohead's name I think the band/bands' entourage (pretty well aware of the internet world) would have had that site closed down in a minute.... or am I wrong?

yeah i read about this too. but the album story is well different. it was posted on legit radiohead sites (by band members) - and also just check out the links! not that i really care tbh. (actually it was posted on this site wich is an official radiohead site) Quote:
|
Yeah, it's the official release. No doubt about that.
|
i'm veeeeeeery excited about this. downloaded the live versions of the new songs some months ago and they sound brilliant.
|
well, 2 vinyls, 2 cds, books, digital download included (wonder if it will be in flac).... gotta go for the 40£ stuff, dammmmn....
|
I just want to get this before they start releasing it on a label.
|
ordered it. twice.
i think this is one of the most wonderful way of releasing a record. fuck these companies. |
respect to radiohead and their clever marketing techniques.
|
Let's see if I have some spare change in my pockets....
|
I want to get a proper record, not some lame digital stuff.
|
Hopefully their self release will start a revolution or independent music releases. Down with record companies!

Here's the breakdown of how it's being released. Kinda confusing, but I'm really excited for new Radiohead songs. It's funny, there were all these rumors about them being finished with the record and first it was gonna come out this year, then next year, and then nobody knew what the fuck was going on! Looks like Radiohead pulled a fast one on the public with this. |
i hope the music can actually match all this hype that they're making up.
|
WOW i sure needed TWO SEPEARATE threads for "in rainbows" to figure this out!
|
"What Radiohead's doing here is actually pretty cool. Rather than preface their new album's release with the usual three months of press ballyhoo, only to have it leak at some random time before it comes out, they've kept it completely under wraps, then essentially gone and leaked it themselves. What's more, they've turned this into a moral question of sorts, by giving us the freedom to pay actual money for what amounts to an album leak. "
so I have two questions... this will be a pay (optional) download? further, is this 'in rainbows' the title for a collection of tunes that have been floating around under the guise of 'Nude'? |
I guess they don't need the money from album sales anyway.
Hope they tour and play in my city and more specifically play for a week outside my door. Entire discography. |
Wow
Radiohead just keeps getting cooler. |

the track list from the website answered this question as yes. |

![]() am i missing something here? |
hayden posted "//in rainbows" last night and al the info was on there.. i talked about kid 17 on there and then someone posted a SEPARATE "kid 17" thread. we don't need the same thread over and over..
|
Quote:
We should make single big threads for all the bands that get too many threads opened to talk about something "that band-related". Dino, mbv, scissor shock etc. hja ha aahhh ahjjaa.-.--. |
heheh well my "Scissor shock" threads aren't for the same album :) there shouldn't even be one dino thread hahaha. but yeah.. i don't really care usually, except i'm occassionally on dialup and it sucks to have to open like 2 or 3 different threads on the same topic to see all the discussion. ah well.
|
Quote:
Actually, yeah, going through more than a single thread to read things might be annoying, but I guess you (you=whoever does it) must be interested enough in the discussed matter to do so, and that should overcome the annoyance... unless the content of the thread is kinda shitty/unrelated to the matter you care for (which happens quite a lot on here, but can be fun too, aaaaand looks just like what I'm doing right now, shame on me). Look, I'm so politically correct today, I just threatened a mosquito that was biting me instead of squishing it straight away, ha! |
you're a good man.

actually i checked and you were right. but if i was a radiohead fan, and i saw a thread called '//in rainbows' i dont think i would open it cause that wouldnt mean fuck to me. ;) |
Wow, is Radiohead the new Sonic Youth? Wonder what's going on at ateaseweb.com...
|
I'm dissapointed with Radiohead's take on this new album. Why can't they just release it on a normal cd? Do they think they are too good for that? And for those who want to desperately hear the new music, they are forced to either download it in a lossy format or wait a few months for it to come out on cd? How very dissapointing.

and besides that, how can this be disappointing since it's what happens with every single record out there? First digital leak (this time kinda "authorized" and hopefully much better done than the shitty rips people "who want to desperately hear the new music" gladly download), then regular album out. Nothing strange there, it's just that they don't have/"use" a label and distribution as of now. I don't see many differences between this and the usual "releases' path", I don't even see this as a "groundbreaking" thing, it might be a bit strange that a band with millions of fans is doing this, but it's nothing THAT special imo. |
hmmm..
well, CD is pretty much dead (though Radiohead are probably one of the only bands who actually sell CD's still, which is curious), so this may be the wave of the future. whatever. it's really.. i mean, the whole thing seems kinda shadey and it relegates the album from "HOLY SHIT THIS IS A BIG DEAL!" to "oh, yeah, a new radiohead album woohoo." not sure why, exactly; i guess it's just hard to get excited over a download. Just doesn't seem to have that much excitement attached to it, unlike the past few Radiohead albums -- but, then again, maybe that's the point. Radiohead's experiments don't always work, but they could be onto something here. I'm sure the album will be good either way. |
Yeah, being labelless has afforded them a certain kind of freedom, I do hope something comes out of this, it could change the way music is acquired... Could...
|
the songs won't be really new to me. seen them twice in amsterdam in 2006. songs on the album played:
house of cards weird fishes/arpeggi 15 step bodysnatchers nude jigsaw falling in place (former open pick) videotape leaves faust arp and reckoner as new songs to me. still curious though. |
