any band, anywhere

the cramps at napa state mental asylum, johnny cash at san quentin, sy at brighton beach, they've all been done, but if you could watch any band perform live at any location in the world, who would it be, and where?

screamingskull 09.11.2007 09:03 AM

alive or dead?

demonrail666 09.11.2007 09:04 AM

either

nicfit 09.11.2007 09:06 AM

Grateful Dead at Woodstock in 69

sarramkrop 09.11.2007 09:07 AM

Interesting thread. I would have loved to see the faces of those psychiatrists when the Velvets played at one of their conventions. Apparently one of them was quoted as saying that the whole band and the dancers seriously needed some sleep and some tranquillizers. Let me think of an imaginary one.

demonrail666 09.11.2007 09:20 AM

Pink Floyd sort of spoilt it, but the idea of seeing a pre-crap Can playing the ampitheatre at Pompeii gives me a bit of a lob on.

sarramkrop 09.11.2007 09:24 AM

Always loved the idea of Merzbow playing at G.A.Y and scaring all the queens off. Robbie Williams in a vomitorium.

First four album era Black Sabbath

LifeDistortion 09.11.2007 11:20 AM

Are you asking about seeing a concert that HAS occured in history? Like if I said, "I would have liked to have seen Woodstock 69"? Or a fantasy like "I want to see Slayer play at the Vatican" or "Jimi Hendrix playing on the Moon"?

dirk diggler 09.11.2007 12:31 PM

La Monte Young, Tony Conrad, John Cale, Angus MacLise, Marian Zazeela, NYC, 1965.

VU, SF, 69.

Blue Cheer, SF, 68/69.

Albert Ayler, NYC, 1964.

Randy Holden, SF, 70.

As for Suicide, I went to see them at Max's Kansas City once when I was 15 or 16. It was a hot, steamy NYC summer evening and the upstairs was unbearable. I went outside and listened to the band through the open windows with Klaus Nomi, leaning against a car. Also seen them with The Ramones and Runaways at the Palladium around the same time. Those were the days.

We'll have to make do with Throbbing Gristle at Heaven.

There's an underpass near my house that I keep meaning to organise gigs in. I just need to check it out for tramps after hours.

I love the idea of Faust and Haino in the middle of the desert, melting.

Neubauten in appropriate setting shocker. How gorgeous is that man?

Savage Clone 05.09.2009 07:25 AM

Taj Mahal Travellers used to play for hours and hours on beaches and mountains and such. I wouldn't have minded seeing that.
