Missoula Show
so, i've mentioned that i'm going to see SY in Missoula in like 6 threads.
i haven't gotten tickets yet. is anyone else going? |
They are going to idaho? FTW is in Idaho?
|
missoula is montana.. i second the ftw.
|
There is even less in Montana.
DOUBLE FTW!? |
i have no idea why they are coming to Montana. but the drive is about half as long as the one to Seattle, so i'm definately going.
and there is nothing in Idaho (or Montana). just mountains and Republicans. |
Sonic Youth are teh republicans national mascot.
|
well, Missoula has the University of Montana in it, so i suppose that it's a more natural choice than any other town near it (the only plausible option would be Spokane; i live about 30 minutes away from Spokane, so that would be awesome). they are going to be playing in the UM Theater.
|
just bought my tickets. i'm psyched.
|
Youthoftomorrow: Have you ever been to Sandpoint, Idaho? A friend of mine went out there to start up a dirtbike/4-wheeler shop, but it didn't work out.

yes, i have. it's about an hour north of my town and a half hour north of the theme park that employs me. it's even smaller than my town and pretty boring. pretty scenery, though. and, i'm asking again, is anyone else going to this show? |
dude, i'm goin!
|
I am

going to the Missoula show. I'm from Canada, but close to the border so I'll be heading that way this week. I got tickets a few weeks ago. Looking foward to going, never been to Missoula though. |

i live in alberta. you? |
should we make any sort of plans to meet or would that be entirely too awkward?
|
i probably won't be able to go to this show...and im entirely pissed.
i live in the same town as youthoftomorrow ..just to throw that out there |
yes, Brian and i are good friends.
|
Quote:
Yup, I am in Alberta too. Planning on going out after the show. Anyone know some good pubs to hang out and drink? What is the nightlife like there? I have no clue... |

hey you wanna meet us in missoula? we're looking to "celebrate" afterwards btw i'm from calgary |
:D :D you're living in your own private idaho!
on the ground like a wild potato... I've been both in montana and idaho with my parents going hiking in the national parks... yellowstone, many glaciers, grand teton! of montana I remember a small town kinda worldwide famous for its raspberrymilkshake--good ones! those national parks are wonderful. and then later from many glaciers we went by car to alberta.. oh, it was so nice to see kilometers-speaking people again. |

hey, man, there's nothing wrong with miles (aside from the fact that they're a part of a completely inferior system of measurement). and i actually live in the northern part of Idaho, where they don't grow potatoes. |
hey! I went to Missoula once, when I was in high school, I got roped into going to an international convention on th campus of the U of Montana for the episcopal church's high school youth groups. it was a fun trip.
we saw yellowstone at 3 in the morning, full moon, it was beautiful. the Univ was fun. I ate some episcopal chick from tennessee's chocha. listened to the ramones and sonic youth with episcopal kids from austria and... |
the rebel episcopals!

I was quoting the evergreen b52's... I guess that song is quite stupid for a person living in idaho. I liked Idaho a lot. I also have the magnetic state on my fridge. d'you live near sandpoint? I liked that place. I slept there. |
Quote:
yes, i'm aware that you were quoting a B-52s songs. i have an mp3 of it on my comp. and i believe that i addressed the Sandpoint issue earlier in the thread. |
ok, so the show is TONIGHT. i am FREAKING THE FUCK OUT.
|
you know the drill...setlist pictures, report back here.
|
uyes, report back here. tell us any neat stuff. tell us how you liked!
|
alright.
i left my town at 5:30 yesterday and got into Missoula around 8. unfortunately, the show started at 8, Montana time. so i missed Awesome Color and the beginning of SY's set. i was PISSED. anyway, i didn't get a setlist because i'm not good at remembering crap like that, but i know that they played most of the new record along with a few oldies ("Eric's Trip" and "Schizoprenia" are the only ones i can recall at the moment). after the show (and two encores) my friend and i walked around to the back of the club and found SY's tour bus. we waited around for about an hour and met Thurston and Lee (Kim signed our tickets, but she made a quick exit and Steve had already left by the time we got back there). i talked to Thurston and Lee for about 10 minutes apiece (about guitars and the new record and a few other things; i said the dorkiest thing ever to Lee "Thanks for making Daydream Nation!"). then we came home. pretty fun night. |
Quote:
We all say dorky things. You should of said "thanks for making daycare nation" then that would've been cool. What did lee say to that? |
Quote:
I was waiting out back with my girlfriend as well, I think I remember you saying that. Were you the one in the band or something? Anyways, great show! |
Quote:
no, i wasn't in that band (although i did talk to them a bunch; they gave me their EP). i was the tall guy with the afro. |
Quote:
Lee didn't really respond, he kinda just moved on to the next person. he went back to the bus shortly after that. |
Quote:
Oh ok I remember you. Didn't those guys give Thurston their EP as well or something? Are you from Missoula or were you just here for the show? |
Quote:
yeah, they're a band from Spokane called the High Holies. they gave a copy of their EP to both Thurston and Lee (as well as me). i'm not from Missoula, i live in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. |
Quote:
Was their EP any good? I'm from Missoula. |
